Product Description
The Airsal 70cc aluminum race cylinder kit strikes the ultimate balance between performance and price. Cast from aircraft quality T-6 aluminum, and coated with Scanimet (nickel silicon carbide) creates a high quality, performance cylinder that you can't beat. The properties of aluminum combined with the Scanimet coating give the Airsal cylinder a huge advantage over cast iron competitors. The piston also features a single, chrome plated ring design to eliminate friction and drag, allowing for higher RPMs without the danger of ring flutter. To top it off Airsal has produced a true performance cylinder by providing better port timing and power output.
Each material used in an Airsal cylinder serves a purpose and contributes to its high end performance. The high quality T-6 aircraft aluminum makes the cylinder light weight while also allowing for better cooling - both being huge advantages over cast iron. The Scanimet coating is a very hard nickel silicon carbide matrix, that is also comparatively ductile. Dispersed throughout the nickel, are particles of silicon carbide, less than 4 microns in size. In addition to providing a very long wearing surface for the piston and rings, the silicon carbide particles provide longer engine life by ensuring good cylinder lubrication.
Performance Gains:
An upgrade cylinder will produce increased torque when installed with a stock pipe (Alternative to a Stage 1).
When installed with a Tecnigas pipe, Arreche carb and Athena variator (Stage 2), the Airsal cylinder contributes to a 55-60mph top speed and break-neck acceleration. If installed with an expansion chamber pipe, you must also be sure to upgrade the carburetor to ensure reliability.
