I finally bought two .50 cal ammo boxes to fashion into a top box. Wish me luck... they will be riveted together after cutting a panel off of each, painted flat black to match my beautiful (from 5ft or more) scoots and outfitted with skulls and some fairly stock looking stenciled lettering. It will hold beers and whatnot I'm thinking. Or a flaregun. Or maybe I'll make it spit spikes for the cagers behind me.

Are you planning on riveting them together? I would lean toward bolting them together using nylon locking nuts and fender washers. I see all too often rivets not installed correctly(usually because of inferior rivet guns) and wearing out too soon.

Are you planning on adding a hasp so you can lock them with a padlock?

My Harbor Freight rivet gun would be high quality and perfect, wouldn't it? I was just sorta hoping a rivet gun is a rivet gun, but now that you say this I am worried. I plan on stacking them on their sides, cutting a side off of each, riveting them together, getting some generic rubber seals and making it somewhat watertight. Some of the metal I cut off will be used to rivet the lids together so they open as one. I will use a large hinge to attach the box to the rear end of the rack, and somehow get something to fasten the front of the box to the mid/front of the rack so that I can quick release hinge it away from the gas cap to allow access. Not sure of that part yet. I will also be adding some sort of lock to the entire thing. I will be caulking all around (or some similar silicon or something) the rivets to seal the joint, and paint the entire thing flat black to match my scoots. Skull and crossbones painted on the top, and I'll stencil the ammo info back onto a side or two.

i've one of those ammo boxes for 3 of my scoped hand guns
also fits about 4 extra boxes of ammo and various loaded clips and
speed loaders for the 357...

now i want a tec-22 full auto with suppressor....check them out on utube!

Problem with inexpensive rivet guns is they often are made of softer metals. So they do not pull the rivet as tight as they should be to withstand vibration. I'm not saying yours won't work. Try it with the thought that you could be re-riveting them again after a few days when the rubber seals compress more. I like the idea. I am waiting for pics...

Don't throw the gun...it can still be useful. My main point is be prepared to re-rivet as the seals compress.

You probably oughta go easy on the people in the four wheelers...Especially those driving three ton SUV's, that drive around with their noggins + cellulars stuck where the sun doesn't shine! "Ralph, did you feel a bump?" "Nah, It was probably something in the road!"

you can buy some full auto bb guns and mount them on your new killscoot !
a 2 pac on the h.bars and one mounted in each 50 case for those tailgaters
all you would have to figure out is a electric trigger / solenoid set up

Hahahaha, fully auto bb guns? awesome... Nah, I play nice (ish) when riding, because I am the vulnerable one. Haven't had a chance to cut into my cans yet and get them sorted out, been busy riding! Except for the 10 in of snow we got in western PA two days ago... in late april... sick.

I just picked up a Honda Elite CH80 last night...free. It does need the wiring sorted out as there was a leak and the magic smoke escaped.

And I might be picking up a Yamaha 250cc scooter...no idea of the model or year.(maybe they meant it was a 200, so it could be a Riva200...)
