My scoot for the past two days hasnt been able to start unless very warmed up with electric start. I just charged the battery and unless it all the sudden crapped out i dont think its the culprit. I will get it tested though to make sure. What other culprits could cause this? It kicks over FIRST TIME EVERY TIME but electric start sounds pretty weak like its a battery with a quarter juice left. Could it be the coil? or the stator? stator seems likely since ive gone through two batteries and the scoot is five years old and today hit 7015or so in mileage.
Second opinions are always welcome before i go tearing into stuff.

My money is on the battery. If kickstart is fine, that should rule out the coil. Likewise if it acts this way after a charge (assuming you are referring to an external charger - not a long ride) your stator should not be condemded. You can verify stator function by measuring voltage across the terminals with bike running. Harry has covered this in greater detail. Two (possibly three, now) batteries in five years isn't so out of the ordinary. In my part of the woods, one battery per year is not uncommon.
Just to blow your mind, though: my Jeep has it's original battery. It is a 1997. |

why the hell would the coil even be the culprit?

i was tired and didnt realize i typed that. I havent gotten the new battery just yet since it rained and rained all day and tosha had the car. Whats a good multimeter to test with i looked at harbor freight. This is something i will repost in the tool thread on which meter we think is best considering price.
