If you're halfway decent with gas welding, you can cobble together a rear carrier fron some 1/2" Conduit. Probably for less than $20, including fittings and paint. Now that I've got a real workshop, I'm going to get one of those welding rigs Sears sometimes has on sale for $89 and start doing it again. Hasn't been but 30 years!

I bought the rack. I'm just saying that it came with the 50Zuma for no extra cost.

And the cup holder.

I bought the Yamaha windshield for both of them also. Any good aftermarket suggestions?

I would recommend the GIVI boxes to everyone. I have 2 different sizes that interchange between 2 bikes & remove if you want.

This is my girlfriend's new ride. I started her on the scooter & moved her to shifting on the TW200. I am still worried! That 883 moves pretty good !

Good looking bike! As far as "Aftermarket" suggestions, I'd reccomend a Motorcycle Safety Foundation school. For both of you. I've got a friend in Michigan that took the course through her state's Technical College system for $25. You might check with the Commonwealth about it. My Lady and I are going to both go to the local MSF school as soon as it's warm and dry. She wants to ride my C3 & needs an "M" endorsement. I need to brush up my "Staying Alive" skills, since it's been 35 years since I went through a two wheeled safety school.

I have been riding since I was a kid ! She is new to it. I went through the motorcycle safety course with her for support. They supplied the 250 Suzuki street bikes & it was free.

We both passed & she got her motorcycle license.......I got to keep mine ! A few girls flunked. Dropping the bike over is immediate fail.

The final day of testing was in the pouring rain !

Well, other than Proton Torpedo's,that riding course is the best aftermarket accessory you can possibly have!

Does Yamaha offer those torpedos ?

I was asking for aftermarket windshields other than the Yamaha. I have the Yami on both scoots but was wondering about other brands.

I take the 50's off in the summer. I remove the shield but leave the brackets on.

I am yet to remove the 125s.

I've got a JC Whitney, Maier windshield on my Yamaha C3 that just recently developed a crack. My fault, I'd raised it 4" and repositioned the brackets/mounting posts to get it closer to me so I could hunker down slightly behind it and get about 2mph more top speed. The way I'd had it before, it was tight, but I could grab a mounting post and adjust it. I'd gotten overzealous tightening everything when I put it back tiogether and the first time I tried to adjust it....! It's good for 1mph and 1mpg avg over not having it on my scoot. And quieter, smoother,& a lot warmer when it's 50 deg at 0330 on an early am ride....I think I'm going to try to find a Yamaha windshield on Ebay (the tall one that mounts to the mirror brackets.) I'd been wishing I'd done that from the start and now's the time to do it!

They do slow you down a bit. Definitely warmer but air & rain do get up under the bottom opening !

It has 4 plastic nuts & bolts that hold the shield to the mounts. I just take them out when things warm up.

On my C3 it's slightly faster, Same with the Z125... I've got the big Zuma windshield, and it protects me from the elements and wind as well as anything I've ever sat behind. Including a medium sized Vetter fairing I had on a '76 Honda CL360T I once owned.(And logged 42,000 mi on in 25 months!) It's amazing how much water it keeps off of you in a light shower.

I've got the Yamaha windshield on both of my scooters now. My Maier developoed a crack awhile back, and it spread....I Installed the new windshield wed am, The mounting scheme utilizes these steel rods with multiple bends. And, the pictures with the instructions leave a lot to be desired! I had it on my scoot three different ways 'till I got it right! Got it from xtreme motorsports in Gary,In. <www.xtremeusa.com> for 15% less than what my Dealer wanted.Suprisingly, it's even more efficient than my old JC Whitney windshield. I'd been averaging 108mpg and the first tank of fuel (BP 93, My scoot gets the best performance on British Petroleum gasolines.) yeilded 113.7mpg.I've got 200 miles on the new Corbin saddle. It's beginning to feel like my LazyBoy in the Den!In 40 years of riding, this is the first seat that just Had to go! If I ran Yamaha Engineering, everyone that worked for me would be required, at Company expense, to attend a MSF School, & obtain an "M" endorsement. Then, I'd see to it, that everyone of them rode everything we had in our invernory on a regular basis... Before long these A** Numbing Torture Devices they're calling "Saddles" would disappear!

Hello Riding Dirty! I was wondering where you were. My 158cc kit is installed on my zuma. I never could get the juicebox for a Zuma to work on that much displacement. Kept getting a warning light after awhile. Got in touch with Bro.Kelly in Taiwan www.samuraiscoot.com & got one of his 10 hole injectors (Vs the 6 hole on the stock Z125.) Having my shop install it tuesday morning. It should stop the lean mixture problem! The Corbin seat continues to convince me I'm actually home im my Lazeboy! $$ Very Well spent. No more weekly trips to the Chiropractor. The only thing now is for more fuel capacity.....Don't be a stranger! Gabe

I have been debating on getting the cvt from samurai and possibly the clutch. I have just hit 700 mi. on the zuma. The wife's metropolitan has a lil over 400 mi. I just have been busy as heck. My son just turned 1 in june. And play softball competitively. Plus work full time I don't have much time to do anything. lol

Yeah, I understand busy. When I retired from trucking, I had been running 150,000 miles a year for the last eleven years.... I still miss it, but not running 600-700 miles overnight on a regular basis. When I got out of the truck, I about drove my Lady nuts! She countered by buying my C3 Scooter for my birthday in '08! Money well spent!

I sure miss my c3. I love the body style of them. But I do like that my zuma will go 60 mph. I am gonna change the oil soon. What is the best synthetic to use? And What weight oil?

If I had it to do over i'd wait and change to synthetic lubes on my C3 at 6,000 miles instead of 2,000.... At 8,000 miles My rings/Cylinder are just now seating in, and it's finally stopped using oil. I'd been using Amsoil 10W-40 & their 75w-110 gear lube. I ran out of both at the 6,000 service, and put Yamalube 10w-40 synthetic in both the engine and gearbox, with very good results. I'll be using them for now on.

I just put a big bore kit in my zuma and had my shop do the work....(In exchange for the continuation of my full factory & extended warrenties....) In light of what I've found about waiting longer to switch to full synthetic lubes, I'll wait at least 6,000 miles to switch to Yamalube synthetic oil.

Here's the specs for the C3's engine from an '07 Yamaha ad: "All new, 49cc, liquid-cooled (with fan assist), SOHC, 3-valve, fuel injected, 4-stroke engine produces lively, predictable power with incredible fuel economy. The concept of this new engine is strong performance with low noise, low emissions and great fuel mileage.

• Easy, dependable electric starting with backup kick starter.

• The cylinder features a ceramic composite coating which insures uniform heat dissipation, reduced friction and an extended service life.

• Three valve cylinder head design utilizes two intake valves and one exhaust valve. The dual intake valves allow for the efficient flow of fuel and oxygen into the engine for increased power output.

• Rocker arms are used to actuate the valves. These specially designed rocker arms reduce both friction and mechanical noise for a quiet, enjoyable ride.

• Liquid-cooling with fan assist is used to maintain stable engine temperatures even during stop and go city riding. Liquid-cooling allows for a higher state of tune for increased engine performance. The radiator is positioned longiitually in the frame next to the engine.

• Crankcase-sump type oil delivery system is utilized. A special centrifugal (rotary) oil filtering system is employed. This type of oil filtering system automatically removes any particles found in the oil and eliminates oil filter changes. Oil changes only need to be performed every 3,000 kms.

• 19mm Mikuni throttle body fuel injection system features unified sensors for the throttle position sensor (TPS), intake temperature and pressure. These sensors are linked to the ignition system and provide feedback to provide crisp throttle response. Since this is a fuel injection system, it means there is no choke or idle adjustment to worry about … it is all controlled automatically.

• Easy access, paper-type air filter is used. Total air box capacity is 2.1 liters for excellent performance and reduced intake noise. The air filter is a high flow-type with an extended service life.

• Fully automatic, V-belt centrifugal transmission ensures easy "twist-the-throttle-and-go operation". There is no clutch or gear shifting to worry about. A wide range reduction ratio is used for peppy performance.

• Maintenance-free CDI system with 2-D mapping provides a precise, high-voltage spark for fast starts and crisp engine performance at all rpms.

• High output 130 watt generator supplies plenty of electrical power.

• Air induction system (AIS) is used to further reduce harmful exhaust emissions. The AIS system injects oxygen into the exhaust to ensure complete fuel combustion, thereby reducing both hydrocarbon (HC) and carbon monoxide (CO) emissions.

• Newly designed exhaust system and muffler produce a very quiet, environmentally friendly exhaust note. The muffler features dual catalytic converters to further reduce harmful exhaust emissions." The coating on the cylinder is similar to what some aircraft engine mfgs utilize on their engine. A new or overhauled, air cooled aircraft engine, is run for the first 50 hours of flight time on straight weight, non-detergent oil. This facilitates a quick "Seating in" of piston rings to cylinders. At the 50 hr insp, the compression is checked, and the oil strainer and filter checked for metal. Then, it's serviced with a semi synthetic, high detergent oil, and returned to service. The high tech cylinder on your C3 has been lubed by high detergent "Dino" oil since new. It's a slow break in process.....The longer you wait before slowing down this process with super slippery synthetic oil. The more quickly your cylinder will break in..... Gabe

They make it sound so so good. Full synthetic wait period is because it makes break in take longer but others and I say that longer break in equals longer service life and less wear and tear. Its up to you i don't think using full synthetic first is bad and can only INCREASE the life of the cylinder. The last part of the post is true that it will break in faster but think about that. I think patience in this case is good.

Not trying to steal your thunder btw gabe Then again i dont own a C3 but i do have a 66MPH zuma though.

Why should I be upset Joseph? It takes all of us to make things work correctly. I switched to synthetic lubes in my C3 Scooter at the 2,000 mile service. My engine used several ounces of oil every 500 miles thereafter, until nearly 8,000 miles. Now it's making better power, and getting better fuel economy. Had I waited until the 6,000 mile service to switch, I suspect my cylinder would have seated the rings much more quickly.

Both good points guys I think I will go directly to synthetic I am looking for a long good life with this scooter. I took my first long road trip yesterday. I rode 140 miles. Tried to keep it at a steady 58 and not go wide open. It was a good run. The first time I will have to clean bugs off of it. lol. So yamalube is the best of the best? Give me some options guys. Maybe today I can get some pics uploaded I will see what I can do. thanks

I'm fond of my Yamaha scooters because parts, and whatever maintenance I don't want to mess with, are readily available. Can't say that for a lot of scooters.

I have been trying to get ahold of him for a week now. Emails, phone calls, exc. Finally got him to answer his phone yesterday. He said it should be there in two hrs. It still hasn't came in. I understand its coming from Taiwan. It would be nice to have some peace of mind that it has been shipped and a tracking number to watch the progress. He gave me one yesterday that didn't work. This is the first time I have bought from overseas. So I am a bit nervous about the whole thing and this doesn't help. I got a hold of a secretary one time I tried to call him. Gave her all my info and phone number. She said he was busy and would call me back in a few. I never got that call. I have been scammed before just don't want it to happen again. Today will be the 15th business day.
Hopefully it will be on my doorstep when I get home.

You haven't been scammed...This time of the year is "Trade Show" season for many of those small companies that do custom work. I bought a 10 hole injector from them for myZuma 155cc project, and it took 4 weeks for it to get here.Relax! You'll get your parts!

thanks for the info gabe. He has a lot of neat things that I won't mind picking up. I did read a post on zumaforums.net about a kid buying a 194 kit or something in that area. And he was missing parts and had a heck of a time getting a hold of him. Just had me worried. But if you say he's legit, I'll take your word for it.

He's gotten my parts to me, albeit slowly....It's a different way of life where he's at. They don't get in near the hurry we "Yanks" do! All I've got left to do on my Z155 project is to install the 32mm throttlebody, & high lift camshaft. Probably this fall.

I've been riding for nearly 40 years. (come feb'11) I've Never had a seat send me to the Chiropractor until the one on my '09 Zuma125! Rode it 140 miles one morning & couldn't get out of bed the next day! I'd been hearing good things about Corbin Saddles from people that rode very long distances.(About how they kept on getting more comfortable with time.) I went to their website & the Zuma125 is the smallest scoot they make a saddle for. They're expensive! However, it's been doing it's level best to convince me that it's actually a Lazboy! lol! What I'll save in going to the Chiropractor alone, will pay for it pretty quickly!

yea the 125 seats are garbage. I drove my uncle's 400 majesty and it was like omg!!! the difference in the two were night and day. It was like a cadilac. Not just the seat was amazing the power difference was incredible also. The 60-75 mph was the most impressive. But he does a lot of highway driving. So I don't need a bigger bike bc i just do in town beings my work is only 7 min. away across town. But a better seat would be amazing.
