Need some advice. I just purchased a 2005 Zuma. As you all may know it tops off at 40 mph. I need MORE power. I have talked to a few people and they had mentioned "big bore." At this time and point it is not an option. Is there anything I can tweek with the exhaust system or the motor on it now that can give me more power?

why cant you do a Big Bore kit? Is it that you want "Free" power?

The only things I can recomend for free would be.......

1. Re jet..... not free, but only a few bucks
2. Drill out airbox
3. Drill a small hole in back of exhaust

DO NOT DO #'S 2&3 WITHOUT #1!!!!!!!!

I can't get the big bore kit 'cause of financial constraints.

So once I apply the 3 steps to my Zuma, what will be the improvement?

PS: I'm new at this so please bear with me. Thanks for you help.

you might get a hair more power and maybe 1 mph more on the top end...

You have to look at it's set up to do 40 mph... That's pretty good considering that weedwackers are 25-50cc engines...

Myself, lennox and some others are pushing the 60mph mark... but that's after hundred of dollars in upgrades! I litterally have over $1000 in upgrade performance parts alone!

So... Unfortunately if your looking for speeds above 45mph... either get ready to hand out some cash or get a larger CC'd engine scooter...

Sorry...

i just bought my zuma about a month ago and well i know that the only way to increase top end speed is by replacing the final drive gears. does anyone know the company where i can look these up at?

Erich can get you those at provoscooter.com just email him under contact.Although many other parts increase your top speed like pipe,70cc kit, carb.

You dont want to do gears without a 70cc kit or larger. It will put to much of a strain on a stock motor

I think it would strain the stock clutch the most, and steal some acceleration.

My butt...

You know that thing under your name, it says "Still a Newbee", well you most definately are.

cant drive 55

hey haven't you been banned under like 3 different accounts scootinforlife?? i also agree with prebug, no way you are hitting 54 on a stock zuma, most modded ones are pushing it even with a stage 1 or even 2 to hit 55. Nice try though.

Sure it does, DOWNHILL! C'mon bro.. NFW it goes that fast stock unless its a Euro-version and even then they dont go that fast.

How did you get it to go that fast stock? I'm not going to argue on the internet as it's pointless but how??? You must have done something. How do you know it goes that fast without a different speedo?

My 05 pegs the needle if I am going down a long steep grade with a good tail wind. Even then I can tell the CDI limiter is kicking in. I think I might be above 45 but that is just a guess. I think mine runs very well for stock but nfw will it hit 54. Nice try is a generous comment.

Ooh the best part of that story, is that there is NO limiter on the new Zuma CDI's. But keep playing though..

i would have to say 54 for a over wieght zuma UNLESS down hill sounds far out.
he may have deck his cylinder head, drilled his air box and exhaust then maybe 54mph on falt MAYBE.

LOL.....No way you are going 54 MPH on flat or even down hill situations. Now maybe he was dropped out of an airplane, but otherwise no way. Also you said you wished you could prove us. You can, take a pic of your speedo, radar, or whatever you use. A video would prove it for sure. Otherwise I'm raising the BS flag.

54 on a hill is possible but on falt with out mods (even non-stock) it hard to beleave.

speedy_scooter
06-21-2005, 12:19 PM
that would be one BIG, STEEP hill to be going down to get 54. i like nwarky's idea of taking a pic or vid of this amazing accusation

LOL This is hilarious. I have a huge hill I can go down but I am no where close to the 54 he is claiming. All of a sudden he is MIA. BS flag still raised.

54 is possible in a truck bed, being dragged, or free falling...

speedy_scooter
06-21-2005, 01:30 PM
i gotta say i really like the idea of it going 54 by being dragged. this guy sure has had a real bashing!!! o--

Yes, yes. We all have had our bikes stock at some point and some of us still do. So we all know this is a huge exaggeration. Now that everyone who knows what they're talking about has acknowledged this fact, we can get back to posting advice on actually making the bike faster, right?

Ooh the best part of that story, is that there is NO limiter on the new Zuma CDI's. But keep playing though..

Check the how to and also PROVO parts under new Zuma Malossi ignition. Stock is limited to around 8K rpm. When you reach that limit you will hear and probably feel the engine changing rpm.

Yeah, then i guess goin close to 60 mph with stock CDI means that I must only be at 8000 rpm not the 10800 shown by my tachometer.

Gosh, where was all your actual hands on experience when i needed it!

The original thread started out as how to get your stock zuma faster. Lennox put up all you can do without spending money on a stage one or higher. Then scootinforlife said he gets 54 bone stock. So, I'm wondering how.

Red Triton R4
06-22-2005, 11:18 AM
lmao my scooter goes 53 MPH stock.

but 54 mph on a stock zuma is not possible... they kik arse and acceleration but they are not top end scooters... want your scooter to be 55 + then put about 800 into it... and you will flying!

XPS1210
06-22-2005, 11:32 AM
um... yeah... at least $800...

BTW: really how off topic can this get... besides there is already a 2006 scooter thread...

so why do we continue to post in the 05?
