hi! this weekend i removed the filter cover, cleaned the filter, put a little motor oil on the filter and when i attempted to put the filter cover back on , it does not appear to fit properly, like there is a gap in right side where the cover should seal with the permanent piece on the bike. i also added a 1/2 quart of Yamalude, and filled up the gas tank. i purchased a 2002 Vino recently and this is my first attempt to perform what should have been easy maintenance. i am concerned because due to this gap between the air filter cover and the permanent piece on the bike the scooter can no longer operate under a load, that is it boggs down and konks out or looses all power. i do not know where to begin to address this problem. any advice at all would be greatly appreciated. thanks

to start when you add oil to the filter your restricting the air flow of the filter! Remember that cause you might need to adjust the carb now..

Also, if there is a gap between the 2 pieces of plastic then there is unfiltered air getting into your engine! WHICH IS BAD! your sucking dirt and crap into there and will cause major problems quick... You really should look and try it again...

If I remember correctly the whole air box is easy to remove... Then there are 3 (I think ) screws that hold the box togeather, then there is a clip that mounts the airbox to the carb...

I'd recheck it agian to make sure nothing is getting jacked up from unfiltered air.

You can also go with getting an aftermarket (washable) filter... I ordered a K&N one and am waiting for it to get into stock (at a local store in town)... I got an open style one from provo but liek the thought of the K&N better...
