I want to ride one bad. Is there much of a difference between the 02 and the 05?

Only difference is the look of the gauges on the handle bars, minor asthetic change. Everything else is the same

below is a pic of my 2003 Super9 and my buddy's 2005 Super9
if you look closely you can see the slight difference between the handle bars and windshear setup. Other than that....they are identical.
We have about 20 or so guys with Super 9's in my local area

Guys that buy full race motors for hondas for under a couple hundred probably arent the same crowd that buys $3000 scooters.

What are the mods if any are people doing to the Supper 9 and the ZX. I just want to ride one of those things. My local dealer dosen't even have them on there web site. They must be 4 stroke now or something. Are the 05 and older the ones to buy?

Yup, we have quite a few S9's in our local riding club too, but not as many a as 20 (most probably around 7 or so.)

The S9 is fast enough as a 50cc, so most riders here don't even bother modding them.

where did you get this info from. i have a couple of friends that have paid over 5grand for a fully modded honda elite and a japan spec dio sr, these are 85 to 95mph daily drivers too (watercooled). guys out here pay big bucks for their bikes, its just that bigger scooters are not that popular out here.

you missed the point. i bet there are like 100:1 beater scooters on the road compared to your few buddies with 5k imports.
we all know that you and your buddies are in the strict minority of the entire scootering population. I doubt George sells 3k$ scooters on a regualr basis but i bet teh 1000$ ones fly out the door.

you will pay more to have a motor built for your bike then what your bike is going to cost you. if you go with a italian bore kit and get everything else taiwan and built it yourself you will yourself a lot of money.

im just afraid of the tuning process. i can afford to buy all the stuff once, but i cant afford to blow up a cylinder or two tryin to figure out how to tune it.

if you buy a good cylinder you wont have any problems with the cylinder, they can take some abuse.
