Hi all. I just purchased a Yahama Vino 50 2007. For the life of me i cannot find what the HP is for the engine. I want to know this because.
After i bought i see that the combined weight of rider and any cargo must not exceed 170 pounds. Heck i weigh 210. Now they tell me. However the little scoot propels me down the road fine as far as i can tell.
Perhaps this is just to discourage individuals from overloading the little bugger. What do you think?

the weight requirement thing... I think is simply in case someone kills themselves and weight more... they can claim you exceeded the manufacturer recommendation...
on my zuma, I carried 2 gallons of milk, my 200 pount butt, 2-12 packs of sode and a couple other misc items... probably well over 250...
Others here run a buddy seat on their vino's and have 2 people on it... and have no issues...

I ride a 2002 Vino (165 lb. stated weight capacity) and I go 220+ lbs. First thing I did when i got it used last year was to put a good set of 3.00X10 tires on it and upgrade the rear shock (used a Jog shock). It handles my weight fine now, but in stock condition it would bottom out badly on bumps. The 3.00 tires also corrected the speedo error.
I think the new Vino 50s may have slightly larger tires than the dinky 80/90s that came on mine.

Thanks guys for the replies. Glad to hear that i should have no problem weight wise. I haven't noticed the bottoming out yet. If i do i will check into the jog shock.
THe tires are 9o/9o-10 41J. Don't know if that is good or not.
Hope you have a nice day guys.
Edit: Rear suspension
Type
Unit swing
Spring/shock absorber type
Coil spring/oil damper
Wheel travel
54.0 mm (2.13 in) Is this good. Greek to me?

I am certainly glad to hear all these positive opinions of the Yahama Vino but what about my original question?
What is the rated HP of the engine? Cannot find it anywhere. THe most well kept secret of the century.

Yamaha claims less than 5 BHP. See:

As far as the Max load rating that is probably related more to the chassis and tires than the power. Some time ago someone posted a link to scooters being used in Asia to haul some unbelievable loads. One picture showed a scooter being used to move a complete car body shell.
I wouldn't let it worry me.

Glad to hear all the postives for the VIno but how about my original question?
The world's best kept secret "the rated HP for the vino 50".

I don't have any documentation, but I am pretty sure it is rated at 5hp. To be competitive with Hondas 50cc 4t, which is also rated at 5hp.
