Got the wifes '06 Vino 125 out of storage today..About 40 degrees
outside. Was serviced before storage and had a battery tender on it all
winter. When hitting the starter, all I get is a click. Started
flawlessly all last year. Bike is only 7 months old and 377 miles on
it. Battery seems fully charged, the turn signals are nice and bright
and it started promptly when I kick started it. After warming it up and
running for awhile, starter worked OK again. Let it sit the rest of the
afternoon. Tried starting it when cold again, just clicks...Started
using kick starter, fires right up. Is this normal, or should I call
the dealer????

I moved this thread to the Vino 125 discussion area, so more people can provide input.

I'd check with the dealer, seems like the battery should be stonger than that--
My 06 Vino was hooked up to a Battery Tender all winter, too....It was supposedly fully charged, but it took several tries with the electric start to get it going the first couple of time. After I ride it, it starts pretty easily.

I was thinking maybe a battery problem, since the starter won't even turn the motor over unless it was warmed up, especially since it was on the battery tender all winter...Although the lights seem normal. I never ran it before when it was this cold, so I thought I'd ask those who run their scoots in low temps if they had this problem....maybe the Vino 125 had a weak starter when cold also.

Mine stated at 25 degrees cranked a little slower but not much, and run like a scaled cat.

Have you checked all the connections?

Went out this morning and checked all connections...All was well. Still no start. Wife came out. Got on, bike started right away. I said, what the heck did you do??? She said, nothing unusual. Got on, put up kick stand, turned bike on, PUT THE BRAKE ON, an started right up...DOH, I forgot, I didn't put the brake on when I was starting it!!!!

Anyway, thanks for your help!!! ..loser..

If you think that's embarrassing, do it when you are test riding a new scooter. Never forget the basics. :)

Glad your problem was that easy and cheap to "fix."

LOL-- we have all done these things. I panicked more than once when my scooter would not start---ends up some how the kill switch had been flipped.

also when I was at the dealer buying my Vino 125--the owner was trying to show me how to start it and the kick stand was down...I said, don't you need to move that up--he said "oh yeah, right" & was a tad emabarassed. :bal:

anyway--glad it was not a major problem with your battery....

That has happened to me more than once ..weird.. But a great feeling when you realize the problem :)

I remember about 25 years ago I had my first vehicle with an automatic transmission. Came out from an inspection and the truck would not start. After about 5 minutes of panic and getting ready to go find a phone to call a mechanic I realized the thing was in "Drive".....put it in "park" and it started fine. Happens to the best of us :D

I left the emergency brake on my truck once when I was a teenager and couldn't figure out why my truck wouldn't go.

As I was reading this I was thinking "click" it does that when you aren't pulling the brake. Then I figured you surely weren't forgetting to do that so maybe it was a connection at the brake.

Oh well, we all do dumb things.
