You can get a Bajaj for less than 2,500--especially the Legend model. People that own them swear by them. They look just like classic Vespas, but 4 stroke. I am not sure how they compare in build quality to the Stella.

I have not had any trouble with ebay, but I make it a point not to buy any items costing more than $50.

yeah, i'm aware of the bajaj, and the chetak is on my list... no way though on the legend, i don't even think most vespas are all the great looking to be honest. i'm not really into the insect look of the handlebars/headlight - which is why i got a vino, it's so classic looking, like a cross between an italian scooter and a 50's american car... now i just want a metal body and more engine.

I've never seen either the Chtak or the Legend in person---they look so similar in photos--what is the difference between the two?

the legend is more "modern" styled than the chetak...

which parts on the 2 Bajaj scooters are different? --all I can see is mayb a difference in the handlebar & light fixture-& Chetak has the spare tire in back otherwise they look the same
the legend does not look modern at all to me.

That's essentially the main difs.

yeah true, they're pretty similar, but neither of them are as nice looking as i'd like... if i'm gonna buy a second scooter i wanna really make it count, i'm pretty much set on a stella, vespa, or lambretta.. or other random vintage make, there's some amazing ones out there, but they're impossible to find! if i found a great deal on a used bajaj though, i'd certainly take it...

Another difference between the chetak and the legend is that the chetak, in addition to the glove box in the front, it has a little glove box on the left rear fender. It's not that big, but it's enough to fit some goggles or sunglasses or a sandwich. It's probably about as big as a brick. the reason I like it is that it's easier to get into while in motion or at a stop light. The Legend doesn't have it because of the spare tire. As far as the looks, when I first started looking into scooters I hated the boxey style of some of the vintage bikes and the Stella or Chetak. It sure is an aquired taste. And 4K for a stella? If I was going to spend that much I'd go for a Derbi 150 or Aprilia.

I really do like the boxey styles of the Bajaj and Stella & old Vespa/Lambretta's
I also liked the boxier style of cars in the 1980's--don't much care for the car styles today--can't really tell a Toyota from a Honda or any other make of basic sedan.. Of course we have the Scion and the Element..Talk about boxey:D

Don't let the "aquired" looks of the bajaj fool you, under all that sheet metal lies a damn good scoot. I just got a lesson on why Bajaj sells so many chetaks by a bajaj dealer. I was impressed to say the least, scooterconvert you chose a good scoot.

I like that the ugly front cross can come off, and will look like a Vespa PX or Stella with it removed.
