Been riding the Vino a full week now (my airbox puzzle pieces finally arrived :D ) and I'm wondering how the "transmission" (I know it isn't really a transmission) works. I'm still restricted (until CHP inspection) and I notice that up to about 10 mph the scooter crawls and then takes off after that.

It seems (looking at the various pictures on this site) that somehow the variator spinning at different speeds causes something (more air?) that makes it go faster or slower. Could somebody explain this to me? And what makes the limiting washer in there slow the scooter down?

think of the "tranny" as you would a mountain bike...... There is a pully in the front, and a rully in the rear..... as the belt rides in different heights of the pully you are essentialy in different "gears" This has nothing to with air?????

Now the restrictor washer..... In theory, the washer being in should give you more low end?? Can someone confirm this? My theory is that with the washere in, the belt would ride lower on the pully because there is a wider gap.....?

The washer prevents the belt from riding to the top of the pully wich is the "tallest" gear.

Make sense??
