I disagree with the other post regarding the C3. I think it is very unique and most definitely stands out from other scooters. I didn't get a scooter to be serous about it. I got it to have fun with and it looks fun too.
Only thing is, I find it to be under power. I like the design I am not interested in getting another scooter. But I know I can upgrade mine. Even at its peek 40mph it feels like the engine has more to go it's just restricted. I would like to to go at least 60mph. Any suggestions, does anyone know of a shop where they will be able to do the necessary upgrades in south Florida? Also is there an easy way to get rid of the speed limiter?

Thanks, what would you say are my options? I am completely new to scooting, so I am still learning about everything.

My C3 is very quiet, I dont think I would want it to be any louder and if you mod the exhaust you might gain some power but have to pay a price in volume.
I am also concerned about the drum brakes, can the C3 brakes hold up to 60 mph breaking?
You know the rated weight of the rider for the C3 is 187 lbs, I weigh 202 and with one of my kids sitting behind me, we total around 240. The C3 can still pull us up a hill with ease. I find the C3 has power but its kinda mushy on the throttle once you get around 25 to 30 mph, twist the grip and wait for 40.
I would trade up in a heart beat if they came out with a C3 125 and add a front disc brake and a foot brake for the rear.
TiGGi, what color did you get?

I got the silver one keeping it metallic looking. But I don't think the 187 is the weight limit, that is just what it weighs. I ride with a second rider all the time and it pulls fine. I dont mind getting it louder, for more power, but what brand would I buy, where would I get it, would it be bolt on?

maybe you should look into swapping out that 4stroke motor for something like a bw/aerox 101cc engine if you want to get 60mph out of your C3. that would be the cheapest way to do it. 4strokes cost way too money to up-grade.

indeed, the only things I could really recommend would be finding a aftermarket variator, and some sort of 4stroke exhaust, or custom. but even with those you wouldn't gain but +5mph imo.

I think the Silver looks the best! I saw a blue one today at the dealer, I went by there to look at helmets and it just doesn't do it for me. My Silver is "da bomb" I want to put some graphics on the side of the cooler :-)
Page 1-2 in the C3 owners manual clearly states:
" The total weight of the operator, accessories and cargo must not exceed the maximum load limit of 85 kg (187 lb.)"

I like the all white Yamaha Vox Deluxe model (Japanese version of the C³) because it is just awesome looking with the chrome & white & could double as a fridge ;)

Yeah I wish they had more colors in US. Silver is good though, white will get dirty too fast, and black just shows dirt too fast.

Be about a month with the C3. I thought that these scooters were restricted? I'm telling you .....these Yammys are peppy. I weigh almost 180 ..... and it hits 40 quickly. I have to try to take it easy because I'm trying to break it in. I can only think it may be the fuel injection with the 12:1 compression ratio that perhaps make it so quick for a 50cc 4-stroke. Move out of the way 2-strokes ....going by ya! lol!

MOdern Yamaha scooter built by robots, close tolerence Computer aided design and precision machinist, just drive it and enjoy.
I can peg the meter with two riders, easily getting 45 mph! Seat compartment holds 1 adult helmet and 2 kids helmets.
Best looking scooter on the road!

There has been some discussion of the brakes on the C 3. So ...I've been paying close attention to the braking performance. For me ... the performance of the brakes have been good. The brakes seem to be more than adequate and actually can stop you very quickly. The brakes are great.

Just watched your video and I have an idea. You could sell advertising space and make your scoot pay for itself.
I'm not trying to be insulting. I'm serious. Think about it.

who would advertise? There isn't that many C3 owners, I doubt the website will get very many hits.

I test drove a new C³ at the local dealership yesterday and liked it, never got it passed 20mph in there parking lot but it felt very comfy and fun to ride. I like my Kymco Super 9 a lot but want another toy and the C³ might be for me. I'm just hoping I can get at least 40mph on a stock broken in C³. I did notice the breaking was nothing compared to my super 9 but the sales guy said the brakes can be tightened up, not sure if he was blowing smoke up my a**, hehe. I weigh 210lbs, anyone think I can get 40mph at least out of the C³? Thanks

the c3 has front/rear drums, correct? if so they "can" be "tightened" up.

Thanks Lennox, I was not sure if the brakes "could" be "tightened" up. :-)
Do you know if the stopping power would compare to the Super 9 once the drums were tightened up on the C³ ?

I doubt it! Nothing beats disc brakes.
I wonder if a Zuma fork and motor would bolt on a C3? Heck, even the Vino 125 4stroke would be better than a50/4.

LOL Lennox, that's probably a little more work than I would want to do on a new scooter. I do know they have a front disc brake conversion for the Ruckus, actually they have a lot of kewl upgrade for the Ruckus, then again it's been out for a while.
I'm still craving that C³, just concerned not knowing if the thing can be modded for a little more top speed and also have adequate stopping power.
My local buddy does big bore kits on 2 stroke scooters a lot but don't think he feels comfy messing around with 4 stroke engines.
BTW, out of curiosity how much would a Vino125 4 stroke motor cost? :nerd:

Give it time and there will all kinds of mods for the C3. I have some pictures of accessories in my gallery and a free flow exhaust would be a good help for a little more power. I have pictures of 3 different exhaust systems sold for the VOX version of the C3 in asia.
I have topped out the speedo many times and it concerns me that if I was to mod my C3 I would be pegging out the speedo all the time.
The brakes work good as long as you pull both front and back together evenly.

I think they are only making blue and silver C³ s this year. I went to a dealership to check them out last weekend. I wanted to see how the 4 stroke engine compared to the 2 stroke engine that is in my Vino.
Unfortunately, they didn't allow test drives, so I will have to wait.
It definitely is a slick looking scoot, though I was expecting more trunk space.

A couple of freinds have the Vino Classic 2-strokes. Nice scooters. The C3 and Vino classic are pretty even as they accelerate ...... but when the C3 starts to stretch it's legs ......will easily leave the Vino Classic. Not even close ....provided all are stock. A friend of mine with an Vino Classic 2-stroke is a good 50lbs lighter ....... cannot even get close to staying up with my C3. Just a fact!

the c3 looks good, also very popular and more attractive then the vinos(girly) and zumas(girly bug eyes like beetles lol...).
if i had a choice,i would buy the c3 over the vino, theres something about the massive vino clones out there that kills it.

I agree these retro 50's style scooters look very girly. Thats one thing about the split in the center with the fuel cap on the C3. You cannot put your legs too tight togather! :) Any macho male worth his salt can never completely close his legs togather ;)

I just got my c3!!!
I have a 2 Stroke Vino and c3. Vino is quicker off the line but has a much lower top end speed.
the brakes on the c3 are fine and anyone who complains about it just needs to bend down to the wheel and the turn the brake screw by hand... walla and it tightened.
the one thing i hated about my vino are the small wheels... not very good for city driving with the potholes and such.. the c3 performs much better on the potholes.
Here's a review ( http://www.urbanscootin.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6856&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 ) that i read before i got the c3 it is generally good but i disagree about the braking. we all wish vino's and c3 had disc breaks.... but thats not how it is.
Anyways, i love my c3.

Both the Vino and the C3 are great for what they were designed for... They were designed for different styles and types of riders, and are awsome in their own regards! ..#1.. The Zuma was designed for the sports market :race: , the C3 for the utilitaian market :c: , and the Vinos for style :raf: .

Just got my C3 about 2 days ago. I use it to drive to my college campus because parking is rediculious. Im a big old ex football player at 6"2 280 pounds and this thing hauls me around perfectly. I live in north carolina in the mountains so i go up and down. pretty slow goin up and really fast goin down haha. its reliable and perfect to fit my needs and i can park it anywhere. Only thing that makes me worry about scooters is other people hitting me with their cars. This is my first scooter and its the bomb. i looked at honda metro and the eton beamer but decided the C3 fit my needs much better.

Also is there an easy way to get rid of the speed limiter?
Tough question to answer.
As you know, it is usually difficult and expensive to "hop-up" a 4-stroke engine, as compared with the performance mods you can make to a 2-stroke.
Given that the C3 is mostly electronically limited (aside from that pesky washer in the drivetrain), we C3 lovers will most likely have to wait for some company to come up with a "performance chip" to replace the stock one.
Cheers !!

Some of you have stated you ride two on this model scooter. Does the second person sit on the plastic behind the seat pad? Doesn't it crack?
