I left right when they were in the middle of ripping up downtown to put the trolleys underground. Oh well at least they fixed up Smithfield Street Bridge finnaly. I remember nearly falling through a pot hole in to the Mon back in 79 while walking with my dad towards Station Square.

King... it truly is a small world. I assume you meant to say you lived in Sewickley. I rode right past the Sewickley Bridge this afternoon on my way to Wayne's World of Cycles to order the basket and windhield for my Vino! Sewickley is a lovely town. I ride across the Sewickley Bridge and thru Sewickley all the time, usually enroute to meet up with Sara, a friend and sister motorcyclist that I ride with a lot. She lives in Economy Burough. And to top it all off, the woman I bough the Vino from lives in Squirrel Hill. I was there yesterday! I asked her why she was selling her Vino and she told me that she's a grad student at CMU about to wrap up her doctoral thesis and with winter coming wanted to sell it before she moves back to Virginia. I got real lucky... she let me have it for $700 with less than 900 miles on the clock. I'm having a ball with it!
Lennox... I do miss the warm winters of Florida. There's nothing sadder than knowing my riding season is rapidly coming to an end. :(

King... I was in the Seweckley hospital a little over a month ago. It is a nice facility. And I grew up in McMurray in Washington County, not to far from Washington, PA.
Lennox... grrrrr! LOL ;)
o/ It's a small world after all, it's a small world after all o/

I know McMurry. Not too far from the Ardin Trolley Museum and the Meadowland :)

That's right, King. And McMurray is right next to Cannonsburg, which is the hometown of Perry Como, Bobby Vinton, and Sarris' Chocolate... yummy!

Hi King... it took me a couple minutes to find the thread.... it wasn't in Lifestyles or Rides, but I did find it in Clubs. Yes, I was starting to feel kind of guilty going on and on about Pittsburgh in a Performance forum, but you're right... the thread did take on a life of it's own. And isn't it amazing, it truly IS a small world!

Oops, my bad, I'll fix that. Along the top in the blue bar that runs along the entire length of the screen, there is a link called: New Posts" that's the easiest way to find things on here.

That's ok... I think it's just down to you and me now, King. BTW...are you Provo Scooter or do you simply help moderate the forum? I've been surfing the forum and you seem like you may actually be the company man. If so, I will be ordering the stage one kit from you in the future. What a fun thing!

I'm the head of the moderator team. I tend to do a lot of the grounds keeping on the board, and push the sales end of things. Marylandmark, Lennox, and Jered are the tech guys, they talk turkey about the mechanical aspect of the scooters. This board as it appears now went live three months ago. Before that we had an old Phorums board which was archaic compared to this software. The site is owned by Erich, and when you place an order through the store, Erich would be your contact man, but he's great. Anything you need, any walk through issues with installs, he'll take care of ya. You'll find there is an unswerving allegiance to him on these boards.

I see, King. It's interesting how I came to find this site. I was in the market for a new motorcycle and have been surfing Ebay motorcycles a lot lately. In the process I saw a lot of scooters there and decided it would be fun to try scootering. One person selling a Vino there recently had a stage 2 mod on his Vino and mentioned this website in his listing. Providentially, last week the woman I bought my Vino from listed her's in the local newspaper. So... here I am. :)
Anyway, it was nice to meet you, King. I'll let you go about your moderating duties now. Take care... I'm sure I'll be back with more questions in the near future.
Sincerely,
Erika

I too am from the 'Burgh...I grew up in Upper St. Clair in the south hills. Moved out on my own to Carnegie. I went to school on Neville Island and worked in Sewickley at the Xerox NRCP. When I met my wife I moved to Northern Virginia. I will be up to visit for Turkey Day. Thanksgiving weekend its a guarantied 8 hour drive from here , 3 additional hours because of holiday traffic, not looking forward to it!!

Do you go via I-68 or the PA Turnpike? I'm just shy of Gettysburg so I go 70 to 68, but I'm always coming in on the south end of the city.

I do 68 up and around..I go to Claysville PA, which is west of Washington PA. I leave early morning of Thanksgiving Day and it usually light traffic. But if I leave the night before (Wed)...the DC traffic starts to backup about noon!
On the way home there no escaping traffic, unless I cut the weekend short and leave late Sat. night

I hate hitting that fog on 68 near Meyersdale. I usually bail off of 79 at what use to be exit 5 Marianna-Prosperity-Amity. If I go in to the city, I just park at South Hills Village and take the trolley in. I think they call the route the 42S (42L is Library)

Hi Joe! I grew up next door USC in Peters Township and graduated from Peters Hi way back when. Ergo, we were possibly neighbors at one time.I'm in Coraopolis now which is probably tha town you drove thru to cross the Neville Island Bridge to get to school. Were you at the CCAC tech school on Neville?
Right now I can look out my living room window and see Neville out in the Ohio River. :)

I WOULD like to be able to hop on it and run to South Hills Village to do a little shopping, being more like a 50 mile round trip. To do so I'm going to have to mix it up with a lot of cars, and even tho my derestricted Vino seems to be above average in performance, I've decided I want that extra performance that stage one offers.
Till then I would stick to McMurry Rd to Bethel Church and stay off of Rt 19 where you wouldnt have a fighting chance. :)

Hi Joe!
I've eaten at that Applebee's before... yummy riblets!
Interesting story... a friend of mine in high school lived on Hayes Road. The township line between Peters and Upper Saint Clair ran across their property; in fact it ran right thru their house. Since the master bedroom was on the Peters Township side she ended up going to Peters with me. I always thought that was funny how they figured all that out. If her parents decided to change bedroom would she have gone to USC instead? LOL
Anyway, nice to meet you! :)

Yes... I know all about Rte 19 in Peters... a car making a left turn into Eat and Park there put me in the hospital on my Yamaha 350 when I was young. Traffic there is terrible! :(

speaking of hills..................
does everybody know the bumper sticker "This car climbed Mount Washington"?
Has anybody's scooter climbed Mt. Wash??

Hi Lennox :)
I haven't had my Vino long enough to have ridden it up Mt. Washington yet, but I've ridden my motorcycle up it many times. In fact, last summer I rode to the top of Mt. Washington with Sara on our bikes to watch the 4th of July fireworks. I have a neat pic of me that night with the fireworks in the background. I'll reduce it and post it here this weekend.
One thing I can promise you, I WILL ride my scoot up Mt. Washington when it warms up here! ;)

Well, another Steelers win!!! It was a close one, but a win is a win...... I cant wait to be in Pittsburgh at X-mas time.... I might even try to scalp some Steelers/Pats tickets ;) Aviatrixie, been to any of the games lately? I have been to a total of 3 games since the new stadium opened. Heinz field is a FUN place. I also like how they brought that part of the North Side back to life!

Hi Lennox!
I just got home from work at the tail end of the 3rd quater but did catch the 4th... wow, what a cliffhanger! The Jags scored a field goal after the 2 minute warning to pull ahead 16-14... and the Steelers came back just like the Steelers of the 70's to win brilliantly with a few seconds left on the game. Roethisberger reminded me sooooo much of Bradshaw the way he passed, planned, and kept his cool under such pressure. What a dynamite team!!!
I've been to many games at the old Three Rivers Stadium, but lived in Jacksonville for years up until last year and haven't had the opportunity to go to Heinz Field yet. We went to several games in Jax tho to watch the Jags at Altel Stadium, the same field we watched the Steelers on tonight. I'll get to Heinz as soon as possible tho.
Maybe we can meet at Altel for the Steelers at the Superbowl! ;)

I definatley plan on watching the Steelers at Altel this year!!! I just hope I can afford tickets after all these Zuma mods!!! If you are serious about going... I will meet you there!

Lennox... If I can arrange to have Superbowl Day off from work and *IF* I can find I ticket I will *DEFINATElY* be there. If I'm there let's *DEFINATELY* hook up!
Oh... and here's that picture of me atop Mt Washington watching fireworks with Sarah on the bike ride I told you about earlier. We were maybe 100 yards down the road from the Mon Incline. As I'm sure you remember the fireworks are launched from barges on the Allegheny River opposite the point. You can make out the lights of the sport stadiums between me and the man to my left in the picture. :)
