Elise has been rather home sick lately, so she seemed pretty happy to hear from her mom this morning. Her older sister has downsyndrom so her mom asked her to return home for a while to help out with the care, since Elise's younger brother has to leave for boot camp for several months.
You'll note Elise created an account on here for herself yesterday, she foresaw this coming for a few weeks now. So with Elise heading back to Singapore right after turkey day for a few months, I got the hosue and the cat all to myself. Time to buy that new scooter!

Um not in Singapore, you may be thinking of Hong Kong or Taiwan, Mark Singapore was where the caned that kid a few years ago from Mont. Co. for spraying Goths Rule on that car. Got something like 20 lashes. The fine for jay walking is $500 USD and there is a total ban on chewing gum there. Last year the Singapore Defense Force stormed and raided a Muslim cell of Al Quida that came over from Malaysia planning to blow up a NY based bank, Citi I believe in Singapore. The Sing government tried, convicted and executed the four men in the same week. According to Elise prostitution is considered to be a capital offense.

Aahhhhh- right you are.
I remember the canning- and I say GOOD! That was a Mercedes and over there it was said it cost like $200K to have it or some thing around that figure.
Little punk was lucky he got lashing, if I was the owner and caught him I would have done more than that...
Look at the crime rate over there- next to nil because they deal with it swifty and firmly.
I wish they did that in the US!

Yes... Prostitiution is illegal there... however Gaylong (SP) is the Government sanctioned prostitution area and then orchard street is where the illegal prostitution happens...
No I didn't visit the places to pick up chick.. never went to Gaylong but heard of it and walked by the cross streets of that area and you could tell it was not a "buisness district"
The prostitution over there is unfortunately liek a slave trade... the women that get caught in it answer adds from other countries and come to Singapore looking for some money... once they get their the people who place the ads, keep em "illegal" till they pay the money they required for the trip there... since they are illegal... they can't work... so they are forced into prostitution...
I'm not pulling this out of thin air... one of the guys I went over there with met one girl who was "working" and ended up bringing her back here and married her... She's a very nice girl and was "caught" as her story she was from thiland (SP) and can to make some cash... her mom apparently died and the government came after her for her mothers debt... so she didn't have much of a choice...
Anyway... unfortuantely I'm sure this happens all over but since that Island is so small it's hard not to run into it since Orchard street is the "MAJOR" tourist area in the country...
On a side note: cars are EXTREMELY expensive there... We did some looking around and a Metro (Geo) would cost S$50,000 which is about $30,000 US... The exchange rate was US$1 to S$1.83....
The amaizing thing was that there were so many expensive cars over there.. I saw multiple Lotus Elise's, porshes, a couple of lambo's and a bunch of car's I've never even heard of but know they were expensive...
On another side note... While there I lived in a Navy port... they put us on lock down for 3 or 4 days as while I was there they found plans from or terrorist buddies to plan bombs on the terror club (the navy resteraunt), the train station and in the housing areas of Simbawang (sp)... Kinda got us a little worried... In addition, 6 americans walking through "little india" (a part of singapore with mostly arab decent), yes that was the name, we definately knew we were in the wrong place... Didn't take long to get the heck out of there...
I'm done on my essay now...

Elise says that it costs her father a grand a year just to have the license plate.
She is going on to say (I should let her log on to type all this) that prostitution is not sanctioned by government, but the people and what there is which she blames on the Malaysians is by syndacates... I'll let her log in to type this all out. She's ranting a mile a minute, jered hit a nerve with her at the moment, and pans are'a flyin'

Sorry to start the pans flying...
however spending a while in the country it's amaizing what you learn of culture!
IE: all males are required serve 20 years active military or 15 years reserve...
I personally love that the elevators all have signs saying "no urinating in the lift" ...
I couldn't believe that anyone would do that in the first place. But... after seeing how BIG the night life is in Singapore... I can see how someone who is drunk might do that.
Not trying to make it sound bad... Singapore was a beautiful country. I would love to go there again... Every place has things that happen like that... Unfortunately here in alaska we have remote villages where parents prostitute their own children for drug money... It's horrible but people do stupid stuff all the time...

What are you talking about, mah!!!??? No, no, not 20 year. 2 year, lor. If men all serve 20 year active service, we have no one to run country or businesses, lor. Only 2 year. My brother Kyle just come back home from 2 year in service and leave for college soon that why I have to return home to help mom!
