I wanna buy a metro, and mod the hell outta it just so people will stop talkin smack about the poor scoot. $367 for a 70cc kit ain't all that bad, I'm gonna pay pretty close to that for my MHR 70cc kit.

I think as the US goes to making 4 bangers more popular due to the pollution laws in 2006 there will be more performance parts available- until then why bother.

metro=slow 4 banger
You want a Vino so you can get all of his spare parts...
Buy him a pipe for Christmas...(he already has one so he will give it to you..)

I looked at the Metro and settled on it long before looking at the Yammy because of brand loyalty. I rode Honda's for years, and to me Yammy was the arch nemesis, but it was out of the fact that I liked the more traditional lines of the Vino that made me look more in to the bike. It was from looking at the Vino that I learned the major diffs between the two motor configs, which finalized the Vino for me. Never thought I'd cross brand lines. Go fig.

The term "4 banger" refers to an engine having four cylinders, not being a four stroke.

I would be interested to see this kit, I am searching for upgrades for my Ruckus which has the same engine.
The cylinder is not a seperate removable item in the Ruckus/metro engines, it is an integrally cast part of the front-half of the engine case. So if they are infact offering a front half of the engine with a bore around 45mm and the piston and rings to go with it for $367 that would be a good deal.
Now the real work will be putting in your new parts. To replace the front half of the engine you must remove the entire engine, which if you have glanced through the service manual is no small task.

Depends on who is talking and in what environment- We are on a scooter forum...
I would not put it past some of these guys to try putting a 4 cylinder on their scooter, however I don't think anyone would really think mistake me and think the metro had a 4 cylinder rather than 4 stoke engine.....

Why would you even bother to put a 70cc kit on a Metro ? It still wouldn't be as fast and furious as a 2 stroke 70cc. If you wanna go faster, sell it and buy a Vino or a boat load of other similarly styled 2 stoke scooters.

Don't remind me. I just got word today that fuel prices are higher than total employee costs at my carrier now. An industry first. (of course 3 rounds of paycuts made that easier to achieve.) So what does management want to do? Cut our pay again, of course.
I swear I'm about to go postal on our management!
Or just quit. :(

heck, I know the feeling... My pay raise of 4.5% was about $100 a month more... congress (who votes on my pay raise) shorted themselves with a 3% increase... or $4500 at a ($150,000 salary that they pull, many make more)...
tell me about the pay issues being screwed up...
anyway, I'd love to try a small jet engine... you know they make RC ones for RC jets... get 3 or 4 of those... Holly COW that'd rock like mad...

If upper management holds true to form, after they cut my pay they will give themselves a bonus for a job well done.
I hate how they balance the books on the backs of the employees. If I flew like they manage, if I lose an engine I'd kick passengers off the plane to make it fly better. Zero creativity there as far as I'm concerned.

Nearly every place is like that. Pretty screwed up.

yeah... and it's not like they are the ones actually doing the job... just sitting at a desk allowing it to happen and firing those when the money is needed elsewhere...

Back to the Metro for a second- I was BS'ing with my dealer and he said:
A white brother 75cc "big bore kit" includes a pipe, piston, head, rings .. It costs about $750 plus install and increases the speed to 50mph....
Big deal huh...

Nah- He was more poking fun at the Metros- he doesn't sell them and trys not to have to work on them either. He said no matter what- every 50cc 4 stroke he has ever worked on the customer is still unhappy.. Just too much $$$ for not enough performance!
He sells Stella, Malaguti, Derbi and some Go-ped/Freedom/Wheelman things.
The Wheelman is pretty cool but hard to ride- I busted my butt a few times on it... Your feet go inside the wheels- the red thing is padding for the top of your foot..

and those things break pretty easy...
discovery had a special on them and they rated them a 2 out of 4 or something like that...
both machines they had broke before the show was over...

notice the $750 price for the 75cc cylinder... nothing more...
That's what I ment... he was trying to make a sale... WOW 50mph for $750... ouch...
a stock zuma will get close to that... and cost much less... then a stage 2 and your toasting the upgraded metro...
Still I can't see a metro going from 25-30mph up to 50 with only installing a cylinder that is 78cc from the 50 stock one... then again I don't tune 4 stroke scooters either...

I did see them things on Discovery as well- I remember they were falling apart.
I ride with a few Metro II's- they are tired of being so sloooow but there aren't any options for them....

Like i said before honda needs to do a re design ,and use vtec this time 50cc vtec sohc i can see it now.

I dunno, Vtec on the VFR800 was kind of a flop; I don't see how it would help a scooter out much at all.

humm works well on there car engines , would have to make a little difference seeing the bigger cam lobe, and the valves opening a little further for more flow.
