Well, unique as far as this forum goes. I decided to stop by our local cycle supply shop to get to know him, since I'll probably be knowing him well in the future. I was just browsing his inventory of mostly Harley Davidson mods, when I found a chrome license plate cover for about 7 bucks. Cool. I bought it.

I asked him about running all the time with the beam on high and he said certainly, unless alot of people are flashing their lights at you, which they don't.

As I was leaving I made mention of my scoots' roadrunner sounding horn. He said I needed a 110 or 128db horn that Harley's use. We went and inspected my scoot outside and he said that it has a standard horn, just very tucked away under the headlight. He told me he may have one in the back. He goes back and in less than a minute comes back with a super heavy duty horn with 110db written on it. We talk about how to mount it, then he hands it to me. I asked him how much, and he said nothing, you can have it. Whoa dude! I ended up putting it on this afternoon, only having to modify the scoot by drilling out the horn mount hole to the larger size, and now that sucker sounds like a Harley! I recommend the modification, anything helps. The original said 100db, but that Harley thing shakes the walls, even if its only 10 db louder, it sure SOUNDS louder!

I don't usually delve into my scoot on such short notice as it's my transportation to work tonight, but I learned so much about how the front of the bike works that I'm glad I did. I now know that changing the front blinkers will be nothing to do, the hardest thing will be affording the new ones!

Cool huh? If anybody is interested in doing this mod, let me know. I'll give you step by step instructions so you don't make the mistake I did, losing 2 screws down into the scoot, and having to take multiple panels off to find them.

That kicks butt. I need a louder horn. The stock one sounds like a kazoo. I'd like one that sounds like a Mack truck, but a Harley will do....

Awesome Water-- would you post the Harley horn part # and some instructions to install it or any other type horn --click on the "how to " on the blue banner and submit it there--in the bottom section labeled "Member How-To Area"

Thanks! :)

Sure, I can do that. Understand it won't be anything official. Hmm, the part number....hmm that's buried under the headlight of the scoot! LOL I'll do my best!

I've posted a "how-to" article on installing a new horn. Hope this helps!

Thanks Water--a super safety mod.. :=O

I don't know why Yamaha put such a feeble sounding horn on the 125--it sounds like a rubber ducky.. or the road runner meep meep ;no

The horn on My Honda Met 50 is deeper & louder. I will try this horn mod once our weather warms up...

Of all years of replacing bike horns, the best and by far the loudest I've found are the Magnum Blasters (not Freeway Blasters) made by Stebel. However, there are 2 horns, and they draw enough current that you should use a relay to prevent an embarrassing fusing of the horn button switch. These suckers are LOUD, saved my ass several times on my FJR1300 and in my truck.

I'm certain there are louder horns out there. You just have to remember we are in a space constraint situation.
