Thats the problem with free sights. Sometimes, the small fee is WELL worth the control of the sight. Especially if you do business with them, or need on-line advice aobut the product you just bought. The other option is to not let free-host email addy's get access.This was used on a few other sights I frequent, and has helped alot. But pay-for-use boards are the best. Maybe we could even get live chat capability. Jered started an interest-thread, but must not have gotten enough resonse to go forward. In time, this sight will get infected by jerks like the one who stated this thread.

There are a bunch of moderators on here, but sometimes there are time periods that go TOO long.

There is an option for aproving every member, but it was WAY too much of a hastle...... we might have to go back to that though....

Now about the "pay" part... everybody but about 10 people seemed "offended" that we would ask for money! LOL... oh-well.

We even tried blocking a few of the free sites, but there are far too many to keep up with.

that help here?That also has it's problems... people who insist on being able to register and immediately post... then they sign up 50 times thinking that it's an error or something...

we tried this for a short time, but didn't really work so well..

I like the idea of making these a paid forums... (but I'm sure that would make people mad as well...)


the solution is we have an excelent moderation team who delete this type of crap all the time (usually 1-2 times a day or more)

Maybe a 10% discount on parts for "paid" members? Or free membership upon purchase of parts? At least you may get serious members. Just a thought....

Then the "bonus" member, or "gold" club. Shirts, patches, stickers. Make it interesting. I know its alot of work, and maybe not for the moderators, but the OWNER may want to look into it.

It's been brought up but I don't think it will happen...

I know Erich is willing to cover the expense of the forums (which is a huge bandwidth forum) however I don't think he wants to deal with it being a paid forum...

Will see what time brings...
