I know some of you are going, huh :spiny: Well yes its true.I have just designed, built, installed and tested a fully working traction bar.As you all may know,on a scooter when initial startoff is in progress, the motor tends to shift upwards about 4 inches. This equals less power going directly to the wheel, and more to the moving motor. The traction bar mounts just below motor in front of the center stand, and travels forward to the dmv mounting plate in the middle on the frame. There is a bushing located in the rear that transfers power. This bushing is swapable to put in softer or harder ones. Here are some pics of what I made.Let me know what you think.May start custom making these for anyone who might want one.

sooo, does it work for you? Do you get "harder" take-offs?

yes...it work like you wouldnt believe. Not only to you get stiff take offs, you also get alot better ride at speed do to no motor slop(motor moving up and down with suspension.

Well once again, the saga rolls on.I got my upgear,Bando high output coil, and Dr.Pulley 4.5g sliders.I put the sliders in the first day, which brings me to my next question. Why didnt someone tell me that doing an up gear is such a P.I.T.A?Me trying to be a do-it-yourselfer,tried to do the upgear at home. This turned out to be a total disaster.I managed to get out and press out the gear that comes out first, but when it came to the one the wheel is attached, that was a different story.I didnt know that whole shaft had to be taken out to be pressed. After breaking 2 gear pullers,I found this out.But anyway, upgear is in.Now I will install the coil and re-install the blue springs in my delta clutch.I didnt know they had a higher RPM than the red ones.Once that is done,I will test ride and give the final results.Ive only got a day for this as it will be super cold here tomorrow and sat.

what is that mounting point in the front? So basically it just prevents the shock from unloading when you start?

Mounting point in the front is where the D.O.T. tag is located. And yes it not only keeps the shock from unloading, but also keeps the motor from shifting.I put in a new bushing and mount and now have it to 98% less movment.I will have the full test this afternoon once the kids get to sleep.

yeah zumas and vinos dont have that spot. youd have to weld a plate to the frame for that.

well this here is for a special group of zip owners. ;)
And I would be intrested in this traction bar, pming you..
And let me know how that jog90 upgear works for you, wish you woulda brought that up earlier because I've been trying to sell one for some time. Just ended up liking the stock straight cut gears more, better torque kick in and throttle response. But if you'd want another jog90 upgear for any reason or know someone that does give me a shout.

That's ingenious. I'm interested in getting one as well. Do you have an idea on pricing?

That's a darn good price, but then I do live in Hawaii so the shipping would bend me over the table anyway. lol.

You can get pretty much anything sent to hawaii for under $10. Postal service not ups or fedex which can be a bit expensive.

Ok,sorry to all of those who have been waiting the Traction bar.Ive been doing alot of R & D on it so I can make sure its the perfect addition.Ive also come up with another traction aid.More on that later as I perfect it some more.I want to make everything that I do,to be sold to the general public. There is nobody in the USA that will look out for us scooter dudes,so dang it,im going to be the one.Burnt,I havent fogotten about you,I had a few issues with bolts getting chopped in half,so I didnt want to send it to you until I sort out stronger bolts.Should have a word for you in a week or so.
Also,I need under side pics and measurements of the following scoots. If you have one of the ones named, please help a brotha out.
Zuma: pre-bug and up
Triton:All years
Atlantis:all makes and years
Xenon:Bergobich,im looking out for you biotch!
Phantom R4i
Vino:all years
Venice:All years
Thats all for now..I will add more once I get all those designs on paper and started.Im going to make a scoot out handle any thing on the road,ANYTHING!!!!

Sounds good, I got no problem with waiting on some R&D. The weather's pretty bad over here anyway so no riding for a while.

Well its back to the creation board for me.Ive done a little more tweaking on the traction system. Here is the newest installment:Its a reinforcement bar for the front stem.Ill let the pictures do the talking, but it really does a excellent job of keeping the front end really stiff.Perfect for wheelies and fast takeoff.Well there are the pics.Oh also,I used stock mounting locations for it.The only real mod needed was to the helment compartment.A little notching was need but not much.I will have the finished pics up tomorrow when I finish.

Don't think I'd want that thing between my legs....................could potentially be very painful if you know what I mean

When the seat is on,it does very little getting in the way...the only time it kinda gets in the way is getting on and off the scoot..otherwise there is no obstruction...and man does it make a difference.

I have seen the traction bar in action first hand and I must say it makes a huge difference. The scooter is much more stable taking high speed turns. Its a lot more ridgid and doesnt wobble when leaned over real far like my zuma does with the stock rear shock. Also for acceleration it completely eliminates the flex that the motor has at the pivot bolt associated with high hp scooters.

Kinda reminds me of those German stunt scooters, except they have two bars.

hey been a long time guys, I have been stupid busy with all of life and what not. I plan to do some hard riding this summer so I am interested in that Traction bar you are designing, dude. Also has anyone figured out the right Polini Belt part number yet? the one I got from Miami Moto was way short (maybe it would fit other zips or the Tritons) but as many of you may remember I blew up my trans gear case last year (riding at over 65mph for a long time) due to a slightly short belt and not having the bearing in the outer case half. So that is something I would like to avoid this summer via a proper belt.
Anyways enough rambling, its good to be back
