I have a old Piaggio Vespa it is like a 78 or something close to that. I believe it has a 49cc you need to pedal it to start it. It has only like 300 miles on it and has not run at least 10 years. I wanted to know are there any performance parts for a scooter like this? If there was I would consider fixing it up as I remember it only does 25-28 mph and thats to slow for me, can't keep up with the pace of traffic in my area needs to be at least 35-40 mph.

Yeah! I know what you mean about keeping up with Traffic it's very important, but as long as it's a 49cc theres is Parts for it.

Cool, I guess i will have to start looking for some parts for this thing. Would anyone know what I could use on this thing or where parts might be avaiable?

I doubt it, the Vespa Super Sprint 50 and Vespa 50's did pretty poorly in sales, and even to this day they are rare in the UK and even more rare in the states. If it it is a 50cc good luck, both Vespa and Lambretta did very poorly with the 50cc scooters of the 60s-late 70's. According to my Vespa history books, the 50cc's were dropped after '76, and would not return to production until the ET3 which was Europe only in the mid to late 80's. (The ET3 was later replaced by the ET2 and ET4) I asked a scooter restoration specialist about restoring an old Lammy J50, and he laughed at me and said I'd be better off dumping the thing in to the bay.

That sounds about right to me. I won't waste any money on the vespa i will put the money towards a new Zuma. Thanks for letting me know my vespa was pretty weak.

If it's a moped, I would check out http://scooterbbs.com/cgi-bin/board/dcboard.cgi and check out the International Moped BBS and ask there. There are lots of moped fans out there that can help you find what you want or help you sell it if you want to get rid of it.

When it comes to boards and forums they are our sworn enemy :( Our arch nemesis. Just like arch enemy in store is badmotorscooters. Just kidding, many members on here are members on there as well. :o

I didn't reccomend the Scooter BBS, just the Moped one specifically for him ;)
