I'm curious as to how the average 50cc does on hills?
There are a few inclines around here that I'd have to conquer on almost a daily basis. They're not super long, but decent incline. Maybe 30 degree incline or so. Any idea how a 49cc would do on a hill? I figured I'd lose alot of speed, but just wondering if I could even get it up the hill

30 degree? I dont even think DOT paves past like 18

Even still the bike will go up it, just stupid and probably dangerously slow.

On the steepest stuff around here my 40 mph top speed stock zuma would creep down to 20-25 mph.

50 cc two stroke will do much better than 4 stroke.. my 03 Vino did around 25-30 mph on steep hills at higher elevation ~ 8000 ft, the 4 stroke Met about 5- 10 mph less

Right on.
Been thinking about the Vino(assuming it's a 2006 4 stroke), and I'm pretty sure these inclines are around 30, but I could be wrong(I live on Guam). They're also only at the entrance to my neighborhood & at the air force base in one spot. I'm around 210 or so, and was wondering if it was worth the money they're charging out here for a Vino to get one. Really don't want to have to mess w/ a motorcycle liscense.

brah better you get yourself a modded moped (honda S) from hawaii and ship it out to guam, that way you can still get close to 50mph up hill and you wouldnt need a motor lic to ride. you can get something nice out here for way less then a brandnew 4stroke vino.

I'll bet the scoot labors going up the Tarague beach hill on the base!! I had a bike in guam, but couldn't imagine a scoot, unless one like rydah and his boyz run. Maybe cruising hotel row. I remember an old spree trying to get up the hill by Talofofo falls. He had to walk it up!!

Yeah bro, those are the hills I'm talking about. Not so much down south by Talofofo, but that hill from Tarague(family owns that land on the other side of those rocks at Tarague) is what I was worried about. Also live in Barrigada Heights so there's another nice incline. I was looking online for scooters & stuff, and really like the idea of a 50cc for the no-motorcycle liscense thing..but I'm trying to figure out if it would make it. Any idea where to go to find those scoots in hawaii?

Your 50 will get up the hill, but it won't be very fast. A modded one will walk right up. Just a basic stage 2 will get you by. If I remember, isn't the speed limit on the entire island tops at 45, and mostly 35? I would go 70cc, and not worry about the licensing. My zuma can be licensed either as a scooter (riding single), or as a motorcycle (for riding double). Its not like they are going to pull the cylinder. You could PM rydah, they run a large range of scoots, rarely stock. Do you have a scoot now, or just wondering if its worth it to get.

No scoot yet. In fact, no car, truck, or scooter. Currently use my father-in-law's truck(because he doesn't use it often), but feel bad about that and would love my own transportation. The speed limit is at the most 45, and that's on route 1(marine drive) close to Andersen. Even there, there's not alot of traffic, and few inclines. Not too worried about speed, as the average car/truck only goes about 20-25 mph up that hill coming from Tarague. I was thinking the same thing about a 70cc upgrade. It'll look like a stock 50cc Vino(or whatever), but with a 70cc engine. Not sure if there are those upgrade kits available for the 4 stroke, though. Also, RPM(Royal Pacific Motors) is charging like $3.5k or something like that for a new Vino. May just try & buy a used 2 stroke off eBay and pay the shipping(couldn't be more than $750 for shipping, could it?). Thanks for all the information. Si yu'us ma'ase.

Right on, Rydah. Any good websites to go to for that? Or should I just check out cycle trader or the local newspaper online classifieds?
