Is it just me or have I come to the conclusion that to get any dampening action out of the stock rear shock you have to be two up. I have done a search and haven’t found anything in the way of an after market pre-load adjustable rear shock for the Vino 125. I guess Yamaha must have tried to make sure the 125 didn’t have soft shock problems like the Vino Classic had because I am 6ft & 200 pounds and going over a speed bump at 2 MPH is like a Harley hard tail, but with two up is real nice and cushy, no bottoming out. So yes I am asking for help if anyone out there knows of an aftermarket shock with a simple pre-load adjustment ring for the Vino 125 before I try and have one custom made, because this spine jarring thing is no fun at 49.

Thanks Susan, you have a good idea, I didn’t even think about these guys. I decided I better contact them as I noticed they also sell Vino 125's on there store front.
"I am looking for adjustable variable rate shock because the 125 Vino rear shock is very stiff unless you have two riders. Will any of the universal shocks you have in stock fit the Vino 125? I am hoping for at least a pre-load adjuster so that I can adjust it softer or harder respectively. Thanks"
Thanks again Susan for pointing me in the right direction. :)

Well Its my experience that if a vendor doesn’t reply to your email in two days after sending two emails, it can only be one of two things. They either don’t want to answer cause they don’t have the merchandise or the email answer guy is out sick. I didn’t want to call them at their shop phone because they are in Canada and I am in Arizona. So if anyone out there lives in Canada you might consider using some free cell minutes to ask the question. In the mean time I will keep looking around.
Thanks!

Folks:
I did not realize that this secure site allows open discussion of other ven
dors so here goes.
The stock Vino rear shock is awful- too high spring preload and too high spring rate.
I bought a custom made rear shock for Ikon suspension in Australia (Ikonsuspension.com.) This shock is wonderful and totally transforms the Vino. However, the price was $200.00 but I think well worth it.
This shock is totally rebuildable, oil only (no gas) with 3 position progressive wound spring and adjustable rebound damping. It is a very high quality part. Geoff at Ikon is very helpful. I also went + 1" longer on stock length (approx 13.5") to get more travel. This was an old Vino 50 trick. My Ikon model # is 76-1703 07-05. My invoice number was 00002506. The only thing I would change is the distance between lower mounting blades. I specified .75" and it would be better at about .78" for easier installation. I also made a drawing of this shock. I can e-mail it to anyone, just write billlarson45@cs.com.
There was a $200.00 "universal" shock at thescootercentral.com which I think is a gas/oil unit but this came along later and I did not investigate.
I hope this helps.

Well shazam I finally after 30 days I got a response but not an answer to my very specific 3 emails from these folks but wouldn’t you know they answer it like a commercial advertisement with no specific information like which adjustable shock is for the Vino 125!!!!???? :8wave: HELLO!

I received an identical email after 7 days. I went back to the site to see if some new product was available, but found nothing. I sent another email -- three weeks ago -- asking what specific product was for the Vino 125, but have received no response.
