I am thinking about adding strobes that turn on when I hit the brake to the sides of the rear brake light. (you know where Jered moved his signals to)
Anybody have any thooughts??
Is this legal. I see motocycles with funky spiral brake lights/strobes all the time. Just don't know?

I'm sure it isn't legal - the riders with those mods probably just haven't been pulled over yet. Maybe instead of beside the brake light, put them under the body for a strobe light ground effect?
Personally, I'd shy away from adding lights around the taillights - It's kinda like having something hanging from your rearview mirror in your car - normally you don't get pulled over for this, but if it's 2 am and a cop wants to stop you, your fuzzy dice just gave him a reason too.

Strobe lights are restricted in every state that I am aware of and are limited restricted in use for:
Yellow: postal, maintenance vehicles
White: school buses (roof) ambulance
Red: police, ambulance, fire-rescue-EMT
Blue: Police & LE only.
These are universally accepted by federal standards for identification for over-the-road vehicles. Many states have banned under body light kits and colored headlights as they are a distraction to other drivers.

it's not illegal to have the light flash... It's illegal to have them strobe...
A lot of hatchback cars have the 3rd light flash 3 times...
Also headlights on motorcycles are coming with a flashing low beam now as well...
Strobes flash extremely fast and are easily distracting... A 3 flash bulb isn't as distracting and usually is legal to use...

Depends on the state and the cop in the car. I'd probably pull them, to me if I saw that, I'd assume he is signaling the braking which to me is contradicting if he does not turn. Maryland has very tight laws that essentially say that if it was not on the car or bike when it was built it is illegal. You know in MD dual wiper blades, vent shades, even clear turn signals that are DOT approved are illegal simply because they were not on the vehicle when sold out of the dealer. you'll never see a cop pull someone for those Euro tail lgihts ot dual wipers unless they are on a quota.
