I am the proud owner (as of yesterday) of a 2001 Vino. It had been in an accident and had most of the front plastic replaced, but the one part that has not yet been repaired is the airbox.

I'm wondering if it is worth spending $30+ for the stock airbox from the Yamaha dealer or should I order the airbox on this site. Without the airbox, the thing runs pretty loud, and (I know this is not going to go over well here) I think I would rather have it be a bit quieter and sacrifice a bit on performance. Will the stock airbox make it quieter than the performance one, or should I just go with the sexy chrome one from Provo?

the stock one is much much quieter...

The performance one is louder...

stock- less air flow- meaning if whoever had it didn't adjust the carb to it without the air filter on it... Then it's possible that there could be a problem with it being to lean...

the performance one... more air... you might need to change the main jet in the carb to allow for the additional air flow...

That and noise are the 2 things to worry about when picking the air filter for your scooter...

Thanks. I think I'll install the stock airbox and then look for the fancy one when I'm ready to do some performance mods. Not quite ready to fool with the carb, etc at this point.
