Hi,

I have an '05 Zuma with about 3500 miles on it. It is way overdue for a service...I've been too broke ;no My problem is that lately my throttle has started sticking. I always drive with it wot because I want all the speed I can get out of it. I don't have any mods other than the dual headlight mod. Most of the time it doesn't stick but on a 20 minute ride it might stick in the wide open position about 2 or 3 times lately. When it sticks I just have to grab the throttle & twist it forward. It releases pretty easily but there's a definite catch that I can feel before it releases. I don't have a lot of money to take it into the shop, so if it's something I can fix myself that would be great :) Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Have you fooled with the carb lately? Check and see if the slide is hanging up.

Thanks for the help guys! But I don't know where the "slide" or the "linkage/return spring" are that I should lube up. Also, what should I lube 'em with? Are they in or around the carburetor? Sorry, but I'm a total newbie when it comes to scooter mechanics. :)

its cruise control baby.

you have to pull the plastics to see the linkage. Its a couple pulleys on top of the carb. Pull the panels so you can see the carb clearly and turn the throttle while its off and see if you can see where its sticking.

thanks guys,

I did pull the plastics & I looked at the cables where they attach to the carb while turning the throttle but I could not see where it sticks. It might be because it only sticks once in a while. Would you recommend lubing it anyway? & what should I use to lube it? yamalube 2cycle oil? Also, would you recommend takin' the throttle off & lubing the cables at that end too?
