Here is my question. I am planning to have stage 1 complete it by the end of next week on my Vino. After testing the modifications to stage 1, I am planning to bring the scooter inside my laundry room for winter storage (large space in the laundry room). Now, should I filled and add some stabilizer in the gas tank for winter. I will start the scooter a few times a month without taking it outside. That is too much work getting the scooter from the laundry room to the outside of the townhouse and winter is cold around here. The scooter will be warm all winter long; she should be very happy for this arrangement. Any suggestions what I should do? Thanks

I drained my fuel tank and removed the gas from the carb as well... So it's empty...

Fuel stabilizer is probably better and start it every other week to keep the carb from gumming up...

no as long as the roads aren't frozen... If the temps allow for ice... don't ride...

You might have to tune it to like the cold more...

I rode at 32 degrees and colder when the roads were dry... No worries... except it likes to idle really really low...

Not a problem for you to ride your scooter in winter in Seattle, but I do reside in Northern Virginia close by to Washington D.C. Too many crazy drivers around the beltway. Ask King Vino he will tell you. By the way, this afternoon I received my kevlar belt and that was the last part needed to installed my Stage 1. Provo Store did a great job sending me all the parts needed. I even bought my new Michelin tires from them. I did contacted the Yamaha dealer in Route 1 (Jefferson Richmond Highway-Cycle Sports) and they told me to bring the scooter tomorrow or Saturday. The will have all the work done by next Tuesday or no later than Wednesday. :D

Okay, that's just sad... I rode in the rain with it being aroudn 35-40 degrees outside... as well... I shaved the rear end of my scooter and the rooster tail sprays on me...

As long as it doens't rain... jesh.....

I just thought that comment was funny!

have to admit I am some what of a wuss...

Running around one day and started to rain so hot tailed it home.

Has to be perfect day for me to hit the road- spoiled I guess but not going to be cold, get wet, sweat or any of that other stuff anymore.

I am the same way. If it is going to rain, I will drive one of my vehicles. Now about my question, if I fill my gas tank and use the gas stabilizer, can I start my Vino a few times a month? Do I need to worry about the carb because I am only going to start it, I am not driving it in winter?

use tha stabalizer, and do not worry about starting it....... It will stink up your house anyway........

Another mistake people do when they "just start" some thing is not let it run long enough. If you choose to run your scoot then make sure you run it so the exhaust is hot enough to get rid of any moisture and so on.

I am storing mine and several friends scoots in a shed over the Winter. I plan to go out there and start them a few times and let them run for 15ish minutes with me cranking on the throttle a few times every 5 or so minutes. 2 strokes load up if they idle for too long I think- better to vary the throttle a few times to blow them out.

Thanks for the info.

I took my Vino to the dealer last Saturday. They should have stage 1 and installation of Michelin S-1 tires done by Wednesday. By the way, I rode the scooter this past Saturday morning, 50'sh degree, I started the scooter after at least a good 3 1/2 weeks of having it outside my porch. It took maybe a few tries with the electric starter but it start it. I thought my battery was going to be dead. Oh well, I am looking forward to get my scooter back and try my stage 1.

Parked mine in the Beagle Room for the winter yesterday. Strangely enough there hasn't been a beagle in that room in close to 15 years, but at least the cat will have her bed back (the Vino's seat!)

i have to store my zuma out side for the winter. i took out the battery and later this week im going to put some stabilizer in the gas and cover it for the winter. do i have to put the battery back in so i can run it for a few min. for the stabilzer to work its way through the carb? i know it will run without the battery but will it hurt it to run 15-20 min without a battery? plus should i start it up every other week even with the stabilizer (i never used the stuff)?

plus when i get it back out could i put some carb. cleaner in the gas to clean it up from sitting all winter.

i would install the battery during start up just to be on the safe side, also i would just use the stablizer it is suppose to clean some too so i wouldnt use the carb cleaner, and you can still run it with the stablizer.

Last year I tried to ride my scooter at least every two weeks in the winter. This year we had an early snow and cold weather plus ice on the street since Thanksgiving. Am thinking about winterizing & adding gas stabilizer. How much to I put in the tank? Do I need to put it in a full or nearly empty tank. And do I need to drain it out in the spring?

Thanks... Sorry if I asked some questions that may have been answered before.

there should be a ratio to mix it with your gas on the bottle of stablizer, also along as you follow the ratio for how much fuel you have in your tank doesn't matter how much gas you add it to, and you dont have to drain in the spring it keeps the gas fresh thats its purpose just run it.

I did it on a full tank... the reason why... less chance of condensation in the tank when it's full... meaning less chance of RUST!

Most auto parts stores sell a fuel stableizer.. (SP)... anyway... it'll tell you how much on the bottle...

Didn't take much for the 1.5 gal tank on the yamaha scooters... I think it something like 3 oz...

oh i didnt think about that vino's do have a metal tank, my razz has a plastic tank, i think the zuma has a plastic tank too.

Nope... it's got a metal tank...

A plastic gas tank! Hrmm... IMO I'd prefer metal...

The oil tank was plastic...

Thanks for the help Jered & Hybridrazz....I was really hoping I wouldn't have to winterize, but looks like I have to throw in the towel this year.
Happy Holidays to everyone in the Forum!!

I prefer plastic tanks.... no chance of rust, and weighs less....

My Yamaha waverunner has a plastic fuel cell, and it has no chance of corrosion when I ride in the ocean.... If the Zuma had plastic, i wouldn't have to worry about the salt air

yeah on a car id prefer metal but i like the plastic tank on my scooter same plastic as the oil tank.
