So, how do you guys like the new vino b? I think it's ok, not exactly great though. If I wanted a metro, I woulda bought one haha! My only complaint is there was NO comment on exdending the vino (or zuma) line. Come on yamaha, where's my bloody vino 150, vino 200 gt!?! Although I must admit, more than two color options is greatly welcome!!!

Sorry for the long thread, I actually write an article for the paper on scooters and the eecconmy last month. Ok now for the personal view on things:

4 stroke bad for tuners, good for public relations
2 stroke good for tuners, bad for company image

It just doesn't have the same classic nostalgic lines I like, It looks retro-futurist which is like the Metro, then again the Metro is outselling the Vino so it makes sense. In Japan, the Vino as they sell them now come in a wide range of colors. I've seen at least two dozen color liveries for the vino since it's induction, and every year there is always at least five or six different colors on each model. but like I said, YMC really doesn't care about the Vino, and the apathy is very visible within the dealer network.

No joke about that. If they were smart they'd push their scooter line a lil. Scoots are huge right now! You see em in all the TV adds, and with gas prices on the rise, everybody wants one. Starting with a wider color selection, that would bring more bussiness I think, not to mention dealers who actualy care.

I want a little more time to distant myself from YMC before I post the margins but it's thin enough that there is a high level of dealer apathy I'm sales. Kymco and other third party scooters are better profits. Matt once told me to make an acceptable profit on the Vino he'd have to sell them for about $2100 a piece to make it worth while. My Vino, I found out had sat on the lot for 11 months bewfore I bought it, it actually cost him money to keep the thing. He was pretty glad when I bouht my Vino. You know the space that na unsold scooter takes up is space that could hold a dirt bike, or ATV.

Many new colors is good, looks like bigger tires maybe? Is the front brake a drum or a disc? I can't tell from the small pics on the new vino website.

It's really too bad - I love the vino because it retained a lot of the classic/retro look. but now it looks almost exactly like a metro, except that it doesn't have a flower pattern.

Two-strokes are way cool... too bad the EPA doesn't agree... Oh well, times change. Just glad I got my hands on one.

I personally like the vino 125, but have never road it. I'm guessing the vino 50 4 stroke is nothing but a waste of time if you want to keep up with traffic.

I have just purchased a Vino 125 and I like the idea of a more powerful four stroke 150 and up, but 125 at 40-50 mph is plenty fast sor me. While the price point wasn't a big deal to me I did feel like everybody and their dog was getting a metro and that did influence my decision to buy. I wasn't even picky about the color. But the thing that greatly dissapoints me is the lack of dealer add-ons.Not that I would have purchased from the dealer but c'mon a wire basket and a windshield.Metro's look nice but I think if I drove past somebody with flowers on their scoot I would have a hard time taking them seriously.

zgraphic--Conragts on the new scooter.
The TNG Milano 125/150 is smilar to the Vino 125, so you may be able to use accessories for that scooter. I know some people have added the Japanese style rear tail lights from the Milano to the Vino 125. Also the larger seat.

I just saw our dealer put some of the 4s 'Bino's out, going to go for a ride today if it doesn't rain. I think I can get some decent speed out of ANY fourstroke. I would love to soup one of those up. All that speed, no oil, and ohhh, so quiet!! Can you say turbo and flamethrowers??

You can only do so much with an air cooled 4 stroker. I rather have a smoker. Besides there was a honda metro at my local watering hole the other day. The only thing I like about the metro is the fact that the center stand locks with the steering. The "gauges" turn with the steering, Ugly crap. The head light is almost flush with the front facia, ugly crap. And there is barely any chrome, (place fart noise here).

The seat was kind cool though.

I stopped by my Yamaha dealer yesterday and looked at an all silver '06 Vino Classic. Boring! The only improvement I saw was a little plastic storage compartment near where the gas gauge is on the '05 Classic. YMC combined the gas gauge with the speedo and eliminated the trip meter. The gas gauge is easier to see higher up, but it has been condensed to empty, half, and full. I didn't ride it, but the dealer called it a dog and said that it runs kinda like a Metro now. I'm soooo glad I ran out and got the '05 Classic before they were all gone!!!

the new Vino 50 is a water- cooled 4 stroker as is the Honda Met

I really love the trip odometer on the old style Vino 50, even the 125 doesn't have it.

An easy fix for front storage is to buy the front basket made for the Honda Met and install it on the Vino. I put one on mine and it is the handiest thing ever.

Just thinking what should we call the old Vino 50 to distinguish if from the new 4 stroker--should we call them the pre-2006 or pre- 4 stroke or simply the 2 stroke Vino??

Thanks for the congrats. I really like having a trip meter. It helped me figure out my gas mileage. Linda (biketrash) was not at all happy that her new Vino 125 did not have a trip meter.

I saw picture of the front basket on your so very cool scoot. I can't tell if it is high enough from the floorboard so as not to get in the way of using the floorboard to carry a bag of groceries or case of rice milk. I once carried a new car battery on the floorboard.

Not a bad idea. We could abbreviate it as Vino-f and Vino-s, or maybe Fvino and Svino. LOL ;wink)

I once carried two very large sacks of groceries on the floorboar and loaded up the basket with half gallons of milk and juice.
I can also use it to carry a cup of coffee or bottle of water when riding and have easy access to it. some photos make it look lower than it acutally is..I am posting some other photos.

Hate to say it, but if there was a 200gt Vino, I'd dump the 2t 50 so
fast... Did I really say that? :o

Personally I think that's never going to happen, at least not with
a complete redesign. It's been my impression that quality-wise
the Yamaha scooters are going in the wrong direction. This is based
on some after crash picks... front collision on Vino 50 2T: bent frame
and forks. Result on Vino 125: snapped forks. Also the exhaust bolts
breaking on the 125... just doesn't inspire much confidence.

I just bought my Vino 125 two days ago and other than having to show restraint due to break in I am very happy with my Vino and after trying both the Vino and the Metro I was happier with the Vino.

My odometer just passed 70 miles on it and man it just gets better. The engine just seems to run better and better, it sounds and just feels great. The more miles I put on it the more power it seems to give me.
