I know, it seems rediculous, but guys I disabled mine yesterday and burnt a 1/4 of a tank (according to the gauge) to go to work and back, a 10 mile round trip!! Whoa buddy! What happened?
Nothing's leaking, maybe the gauge shows a faster decrease the less fuel you have??? It went from 1/2 to 1/4 of a tank!!

the bottom half of the tank is smaller then the top... seriously it's normally angled in on the bottom...

Another strange occurance.....the needle got to 1/4 and stayed there for almost 10 miles.
I wouldn't trust that gauge too much if I were you! LOL
I'll report gas milage when I go fill it.

Update: My gas milage on this tank dropped about 2 miles per gallon and I disabled the pump at roughly a half tank. I will report again when I finish the entire tank and fill up again.

just remember that the people who designed, engineered and built this engine know a lot more about it than you and me.
That knowledge doesn't seem to have any impact on many riders who have a need to 'fuss' with their machines, almost always making it less efficient; less powerful; louder; or handle less securely. That applies to every kind of motor vehicle!
You should see the myriad posts chronicling 'improvements' on the V- Strom list. Heavy $$ thrown around at random, then they complain that they have less power, worse fuel economy and the bike won't run below 4000 RPM!! It's often hilarious, sometimes just sad.
You may consider leaving your machine alone and just enjoy riding it?

Tonight I actually just took that arm that activated the pump off the climp was getting in the way of my accelerator. It was really easy and there is a little spring if i get any negative effects i'll just put it back one. However i have had it disabled for about 2 months and have only seen benefits from it. I'll let yall know if something happens

Trispeed, you're right, they know more about the engine than I do, but I'd be willing to guess that engine was used in more than one machine, and in doing so they didn't reengineer the powerplant, they just stuck it in the new scoot!
I disabled my accelerator pump and have seen zero ill effects. I just topped it off and my gas milage went from 81.5 to 81.69, not enough to justify the rough ride and having the pump disabled. I'll be letting some, not all, of the air I put in the tires leak out over time, probably down to around 30 front and rear. I'm going to take the clip off the accelerator pump and let her rip!
Oh, and for your inquiry about "just riding it", sure, I do, but tinkering with it is half the fun! ::handleba
