Replacing the CDI unit

Exactly what is a CDI unit and if replaced what kind of gains are possible?

the CDI unit is your "ignition" system... If you unplug the CDi the scooter will not fire...

The stock one is regulated to stop the engine at around 8000rpm's... Onces such as the malossi one can be bought with a higher limiter or unlimited rpm's...

It's possible with a high rpm engine to produce more rpm's causing higher speeds and acceleration...
