Okay, as some of you have picked up I love the scooter thing, I also thing about my safety when riding...
Just wondering what you wear when riding... Please post on the poll and you are able to choose multiple items... However once you vote, you can't change or add your vote...
I wear a full face 95% of the time and rarely ride with my 1/2 helmet... Lots of bugs here in alaska to knock you off your scooter
Leather gloves
Long sleeve shirt or better (normally not a jacket though, it's 70 degrees here... Thats hot as hell)
Long pants
Leather shoes (forgot this on the poll)
Also Reflective Vest... Yes it's gay as hell... however I'm in the mil and the base requires us to wear one while on base... It royally sucks as all riders but wear a bright ass orange with yellow reflective vest...
If all the above isn't worn they pull our riding privalages for the base for a full year! Talk about crap...

Half helmet and shades too. Have to wear shoes. Don't like wearing sandles when I ride!

I have found that Crisco helps the bugs to just slide right off.

full helmet
T-shirt
shorts
sandals
I only ride in the summer/fall/spring .. in the summer around here (right now), it's frequently over 100 degrees - so wearing a full helmet keeps in plenty of heat.. I would spontaneously combust if I wore longsleeves and/or pants.
in the spring/fall I'll wear jeans/cargo pants, tennis shoes, t shirt and helmet.
No way I'll ride in the winter (rainy season).. the scooter is just for fun (weekends) in the nice weather.

WOW! your nuts...
Way braver than I am... then again I have wrecked... Totaled a leather jacket and broke my hand... All at a Whooping speed of 30mph! ;)
To each their own though....
I think I want to ride naked one time... For the heck of it!!!
California the place for that? Nice and sunny... Beaches all over.... Probably not nude but oh well...

I was noticing that there were 14 people who have voted and 14 votes for either types of helmet...
Hope that means that most everyone here is wearing a helmet... Or maybe just 5 of the voters who wear full face's also wear 1/2-3/4's....
Either way... nice to know most of us are protecting our HEADS!

I prefer one of those kevlar belts, it keeps my pants up and it's fire proof :p Along with a helmet and some kind of lens for my eyes

I have always worn a 3/4 helmet, gloves & long pants when riding my scooters. This past year I have added a protective jacket to the riding gear.
Usually wear sneakers or boots
good post Jered.
I am amazed at all the folks around here riding in flip flops and shorts/no helmet.......This isn't Key West--the roads are full of SUV's

I have always worn a Full Face Helmet, I find the open helmets too noisy and the bugs are a nightmare. Also its much safer than the open helmet, i've come off the Zuma twice so I know its worth it ::handleba. I also normally wear sturdy steel capped boots altho I do have full racing boots but unless the weather is awfull I don't use them, I always wear my leather jacket (Bright Yellow) and when its raining or on a long journey (40 miles plus) I wear my black cycloak trousers with all the kevlar reinforcing (Yup the kevlar works, i've tested it, lol). Anyways, Drive safely and try not to crash like the guy on the Vino we all saw earlier, that must hurt

the 3/4 helmet I wear isn't open--it has a face shield down to my chin. I do have a Full face helmet, but just don't like to wear it as I wear glasses and it makes me feel claustrophobic

but just by looking at your helmet, there is no face/chin protection other than the plexiglass visor which would shatter or fall off within seconds of falling off/crashing the bike leaving your face to scape down the aspalt. Who ever has one of those open helmets, try banging your head against a wall with the helmet on and I bet you wont like the result... Then try the same thing with a full face unit, you'll feel the difference. The only other helmet I think would offer reasonable protection is one of those full face ones where the whole front hinges up like the Shoei SYNCROTEC http://www.shoei-europe.com/en/swf_products.php?name=SYNCROTEC%20II

I think personal riding protection choices come from both environment and personal choice. I know some of you "Inlanders" that "suit-up" in Armor have ridden with no shirt, and flip flops at least once..c'mon!. In Coastal areas with scooters..only bikinis and flip/flops are worn....I ride both ways..but the freedom feeling from a short neighborhood Skin ride is priceless..(no..not Nekkid..Thought about it once tho... ;;p :naught: )

I've ridden with only short and t-shirts before, never did like flip flops tho ;) lol. But all that was before I took 2 spills and wiped out a leather jacket and more. But for a short trip to the local grocery shop I just wear jeans with a tshirt or pullover :) Maybe when I finally get to Aussie i'll try the naked riding :8wave: , too cold and wet at the moment ;)

Glasses, pants, gloves, work boots. Cooler weather, I wear a leather coat and helmet. The highest speed limit I see is 35 mph roads. If I were on the highway or more of a metropolitan area, I'm sure I'd wear more, out of fear of getting hit.
