Hi everyone.
Im new to this so I extremely apologize if I have posted this in the wrong area.
I have a 2006 Vento Triton R4, and its been down for about a month.
Everything was fine until one night, the bike jerked, I heard a clanking noise, and it stopped on me. I was in the middle of a light with a jeep on my ass. It scared me, but I was able to coast the bike into a gas station. Well I took it to the dealership, where they had it for a lil over 2 weeks. The decided to tell me it was my fault after all that time, and that it was no longer covered under warranty. I asked them for an estimate on charges and they said $350. I was a bit shocked when he first told me that. But he said just by looking at it, it would cost $1000 to fix. Needless to say, I about fell out of my office chair.
He had told me that the fan cover was busted, and whatever hit the cover, and broke it, screwed up the fan and knocked the blades off of it. Which caused the bike to over heat. He said he tried to crank it, and it would try to start up, but it would make loud popping noises and not even turn over. So now, we have the bike back here, and we just need to know whats going on with it. This is my way around town. My only way. We decided we were going to work on it ourselves, but our dealer has been trying to contact vento for over a week for a service manual, and no one has contacted them back. Ive also tried contacting vento myself.
So does anyone know where I can get a service manual online. Maybe in a PDF format. Or does anyone have an idea what could be wrong with my bike.
PLEASE I NEED HELP!!

..pray..

Sounds to me like the cooling fan broke and made the bike seize. Now when trying to start it the motor is toast so it just wont. But I would never talk to that shop again if they think $1000 to fix this problem is a good estimate. Try 200 tops, and thats with replacing the cylinder with a new 70cc...

Well we can help out here, just need more details on your problem. As long as it just overheated and there's no internal bottom-end damage, it shouldn't be too big of a problem.

Things to check out: Pull head and cylinder and look at piston, see what damage occured due to overheat. Also pull off fan cover and fan (if still there) to see if anything is wrong with the crank. For easieness sake it would be better to remove the variator and belt as well. Then see how freely the crank spins and if there's noticable damage anywhere.

Then report back! :c:

its a good idea if you have it in, but nothing you should worry about right now. try to figure out exactly whats wrong and broken.
