After looking for a couple of months at Metropolitans, Vinos and Bugeye Zumas, I just picked up a 98 prebug Zuma with 460 miles on it this week. It's a great scooter, currently all stock; I'll probably hold off on any upgrades until next spring. I do have some general questions, though.
As there were no maintenance records upon the sale, I have made sure that the oil level was acceptable, checked all lights and signals and visually inspected for any fluid leakage. Is there anything else that should be attended to that I may have missed?

One thing I've noticed on this scoot is the headlights tend to dim down when the engine is at low idle; is this normal, or is there a voltage issue somewhere?

Finally, a cosmetic question: has anyone retrofitted bugeye headlights on a prebug Zuma? I'm more fond of the larger lights, but don't want to cause any electrical problems. Thanks!

if your bike only has 460 miles on it all you would need to do is change your tranny oil. about that head light conversion you are talking about, that would kill the nice looks of the prebug.

Lower lights are not in any way shape or form anything "unknown" they are normal and should be treated as such. And getting bug eyes im all for it! but i dont know if you can since your pre bug. I myself am a proud bug eye owner.
