There are two versions of the Metropolitan 1 and 2. The Met 2 only goes ~25mph. The Met 1 goes 38-40 mph (like a de-restricted Vino)
I have always wanted to know why the Met 1 is faster out of the box than a restricted Vino.
I think the Vino has better pickup from a stop. Here's a link to a guy who has compared the two.

I test rode a Met 1 the other day. I think the Vino has better brakes and a more comfortable seat--also a little more leg room. The Met is cuter-more hip looking, the Vino more classy looking. I like the stock turn signals on the Metro better, they also make a clicking noise so you remember to turn them off.
In 2006 all the scooters sold will be 4 strokes

Hey now mates, stop bashing the poor metro. Thanks Susan for bringing up those stats. Like it or not fellas, the metro is a fine scoot. Quiet, safe on the environment (I winse everytime I start up my vino and see that plume of blue smoke exit my vino's pipe), and as reliable as a camel in the desert. 10,000 miles on an ordinary engine is like 5,000 miles on a honda engine, car or scooter. The honda's seat isn't as comfy as the vino's though. Shawn, why not sell/rent both. Why not throw in a few zumas, those are mighty popular as well? When you get pretty stable, sell a few new and vintage vespa's!!!

The Metro is classed as a motorcycle in many states where the Metro II is restricted and classed as a moped despite having the same engine. I saw a Metro the other day on Tilghman Island near the skipjacks being ridden by an 80 year old waterman. He had a big ole basket of #1 Jimmies on the back (Marylandmark is a Bay Boy, he'll understand all this :) ) I didn't get a picture cause I feared the other boys in the crab scraper may release the awe of the almighty shotgun, plus the fact I had an ultra wide angle on the camera and not the telephoto, LOL. :D
Any case the Metro was the first sign of things to come. The new Vino already being sold in Japan (Vino Bianca) which is stated to be released towards the end of 05 as an 06 here in the states will be a four stroke, with all the same issues that we complain about with the Hondas. There are some older threads about the new Vino posted in the Vino forum, but you;'ll need to tell the forum interface to open threads older than 45 days to see them. Ah hell, I just cross post the links :)

Also I'm moving this to the proper forum.

I have a 50cc yumbo and it goes 44 stock, I put a 80cc kit on it with some a bigger jet and now i go 55. Thats the good thing about 4 strokes you can put bigger bores on them :ll Still using stoke pipe and stock variator too. 4 strokes can be amazing
