I plan on changing my oil every 1000 miles. However when I switch to fully synthetec, I probably will go 2000 miles. How about all of you??

If I may, let me add another dimension to the question: What brand and weight (viscocity grade) oil are you going to use? I'm planning to do my first oil change with Motul 3000 mineral-based 10W40.

I'd recommend using what the owners manual says to use. 10w 30 for the warm climates, 10w 40 for the super hot places.

I use 20w50 motor oil

Hi, The 20-50 is putting a big drag on your engine, like filling the crank case with mashed potatoes. lol.

There's no reason to use 20W-50.
That's what you use in a 21 year old Plymouth with a rod knock.

The service manual says you can use 20w50, but only during very warm weather. The service manual has a more detailed list of oil grades and temp recommendations than the owner's manual. 10w40 is actually recommended for the broadest temp range.

Does anyone know what temprature scale is being used on the oil chart, celsius? centigrade? farenhight?, the temp. ranges don't seem to make sense.? They appear to be very low, and not go high enough, to be farenhight?

FYI--I just posted Tony (Arizona Vino's ) procedure on changing the oil in the how to section. He provides excellent photos and step by step procedure.

The letter F after the temps along the top of the chart stands for Fahrenheit
The letter C after the temps along the bottom stands for Celcius.

Thanks scootertrash, I was looking at the chart, in the shop manuel, and it did'nt have any indicators.

The owners manual is what I was looking at.

It has both the F' and C' scales

Whatever oil you decide to use, do not overfill the scoot. Easy to do, impedes performance.
