Vino Bianca Press Relase (http://www.yamaha-motor.jp/mc/lineup/scooter/vino/index.html) It looks as if YMC, Nihon has officially released the new four stroke Vino model. My kanji is pretty poor so I am having a freind Miyazaki, Japan translate it more accurately.

Well there goes the neighborhood. The 4-stroke 50cc will be as weak as a Honda Metro, and virtually un-upgradable. There will be a lot of slooow scooters when those things make it to the US.

Hey Aaron,
I checked the website and put them into English. It was a little bit tough to put them into English. If you feel this translation is awkward, correct it.

Cuter and Cleaner (this means enviroment-friendly), New Vino.
Vino that is popular by a retro-pop design has changed a model.
The design is cuter and has a four-cycle engine developed newly,
also it is more enviroment-friendly.
The varieties of the body color is seven including Vino deluxe.
Vino come out this spring with colorful exterior!

Ken

Well, there ya go, a formal translation. It's good to have friends in Japan.

I agree, but I think we all knew this was coming. I recall posting a picture on these guys while in concept stage last October. I think we got at least one or two good full model years of the YJ50 left, but you know the Zuma is next after this to go 4 stroke.

There are finally some decent color choices, not to mention a new body style. I wonder if the chinese knockoffs are going to be using the same body panels in the following years.

Well, if the Bianca does poorly as the Metropolitan has it may be unlikely to see a new Vino knock off. Only time will tell.

Hmm...

Pondering putting my Zuma in a climate controlled garage and selling it in a few years if everything is going eco-chicky route.

I like the new style Vino in white only---I have seen photos of some of the other colors and don't like them much. The green is pukey looking.

Wonder if the new ones in the US will have the cool looking Japanese style lights or the stupid light stalks the US puts on. http://images/icons/icon7.gif

Suzan, the image at url, http://images/icons/icon7.gif[/url] doesn't seem to work. I suspect that all image links with vBullitin require an active http:// or www. address. When I edited the initial image link there was no http:// prefix.

There's a way. There's gotta be some way to upgrade those four strokes. If the lawn mower race guys can get their mowers up to 65+mph, then doing it with a plastic scoot will be possible. I'm sure that once there's a market for those upgrades there will be plenty of people designing them.

There's a site battlescooter.com that has upgrades for the Honda Ruckus (4 stroke), so there will be ways to upgrade the New Vino. Will it be alot more expensive to upgrade a 4 stroke?

Another question, Honda sells a Met 1 that will go 37-40 mph and a Met II that only will do 25-30. Wonder if the New Vino will be similar to the Met I or heavily restricted like the Met II?

I think it's not as much an issue of not being able to do it, it's more of a matter of parts and the increased difficulty involved in derestriction. We have had several posts on here on how to derestrict the Metro, but it's such a pain in the arse that no one would want to go through the hassle.
