Hi...this is not my bike. I'm trying to help the owner, but don't know anything specifically about vinos. Bike has less than 1000 miles, and (I'm told) would run for a couple of minutes and then die. At this point it won't start normally at all. Spark, battery, fuel flow are all ok. Problem is the carburetor. I can get the motor to start and run only by stuffing something into the intake (at the airfilter), cranking for a few seconds, removing the blockage til it starts, then partially blocking the intake to keep it running. Anyone seen this before?

I don't have the shop manual and don't know what the two electrical devices that are part of the carb are for, or how to test them. I suppose one is some sort of choke. Can anyone tell me more about this? Other online vino info sources/links would also be appreciated. I will pull the carb and look for obvious problems, but is there anything specific to vinos i should be aware of?

Thanks.

Is it in warranty?

Good suggestion. I don't know. Owner's out of the country and asked me to try to fix it while she's gone. I've already tried to contact her about possible warranty coverage. In any case, I'd still like to know more about this carb. Thanks.

No need to fix something that liekly would be fixed for free by experts.
And if you "help" her and mess up something, there goes the warranty.

Did the bike run fine and suddenly start doing this or did it sit for a long time while the owner was gone and then it acted up when someone tried to start it?

I don't know the bike's history, but turns out it is under warranty and will be taken to dealer. I'll post the results if I find out what the problem was. Thanks again.

You may possibly have a leak in the airbox or airway between the outside and the carb, causing it to lean out and die? You are probably enrichening the mixture by partially blocking the airbox. Or, possibly, I am full of *potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth**potty mouth*e.

Or, maybe I am full of feces.
