Hi, I am very interested in getting a Zuma.

Anyone have some places to start with my research?
Fair price on a new one?

And by looking at all of the mods, just with the bolt-on type, what top speed can be expected with them?

Thanks for all the help in advance.

Thanks, I am very glad I found this board. It seems to have users full of themselves, I mean, full of knowledge.

Welcome to the boards, you'll find right now most of on the moderator team, myself included have been a little grumpy about answering the same ten questions that are imposed of every 15 new threads. One of my things is going to be trying to get a new member forum started full of stickies.

PLEASE READ STICKY (http://www.provoscooter.com/vbull/showthread.php?t=721)

Zoomzoom,

One good way to start is goto Yamaha website, they have the MSRP. My suggestion is think twice if the dealer is selling it over the MSRP.
One important question to ask is do you want a new or second hand zuma? sometimes I goto ebay to see the selling price of a used one, this will give you a pretty good starting point.

For the Mod, if all you want is a bit faster, the stage one kit is very good.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I am going to check out the dealers in my area to see what they are offering. I would like to get a used one that had no mods on it. (less likely to be ragged :)

But I am going to check the local classifieds and see.

I am in Florida, I was curious if anyone knows where I can get details on the law. I think <50cc doesn't require a Class2 license. But how about needing a tag, insurance etc. I am wanting to ride around my residential area, run up to the store to grab some food, etc.

Thanks again for all the help and suggestions.

under 50cc, you do not need a motorcycle endors.

You DO need a tag.

You do not need ins.

You must be at least 16.

I hope this helps...... where in Florida are you?

It's pretty rare to see scooters go over MSRP too terribly far. You'll get the usual tags, taxes, and destination fees, but YMC dealers typically buy scooters from YMC for about 5%-8% below MSRP. Our store was 5% below which was why Matt didn't want to carry scooters, too little profit in them to be hassled with. Sell much above MSRP especially in a low volume market like where I am, then they sit on the floor forever. While motorcycles can have a range of 8% to 25% or more depending on the market.
