There should be a spinning gear that will allow the spring to be compressed more or less for the settings...
You need to get either a pair of locking pliers to move it or some other plier type tool...

Does a more compressed spring mean it will be a stiffer ride? I figure a less compressed spring means a more bouncy ride but I am sure I am wrong. What is the best setting, the default?

I have the mdi shock on my Vino, too--I just left it at the setting it came on--It seems to be fine with the default setting--does anyone have experience with adjusting it to a another setting?

Is it very difficult to install the performance shocks? I think I am going to make that my weekend project, if so.

BTW... I have a shock if anyone wants to pay shipping on it...
I bought it for $22.00 plus shipping on ebay and found out it doesn't fit the zuma... it's a 255mm (I'll double check)...
If you want it and want to paypal the $5-6 for shipping, it's yours... let me know...
EDIT: spoken for...

oh yeah... On the zuma, you have to get under the body panels to get to the upper mount...
So I am unsure how long it will take you but if your quick and can take the left panel off... it's pretty simple... maybe MAX 1 hour... probably less than 30 for a 1st timer... 15 minutes for someone who has knowledge of how to take it apart and Like zuma88 says 8 minutes if you have the tools all ready... :D

I have never changed a shock on anything in my life & it took me around 30 minutes to change the rear shock on my Vino. The hardest part was getting the washer ring out of the old shock and putting it on the new one--because I couldn't get the onew shock on with the washer it came with.
I haven't seen a need to change the front shock--JEred do you know if the MDI rear will work on the front of a Vino, too? If so, I may beinterested in buying yours.

I ordered the shocks from Provoscooter---crap, I hope I can change out my stock shocks. :O Eight minutes huh? I am a newbie so I think it will take me more like 4 hours. What kind of tools do I need? I bought some tire levers tonight for changing out my tires (I'm going to give it a try this weekend, taking the current ones off and putting them back on). What have I gotten myself into??? :D I hope I can put the tires back on if and when I get them off, so that I can scooter to work on Monday!

I don't know how the vino shock is installed but... the zuma is 1 bolt on the bottom and one on top.... I can't remember but they are either 10mm or 13mm... take them out... the shock comes out... put the new shock in and the bolts...
Only thing is that you might need to remove a body panel on the scooter to get to the top mount...
Like I said I'm not sure how the vino is set up... I know the 02-current zuma's are that way... It takes a 5.5mm hex and a phillips screw driver to get the panel off...
