After removing the governor washer and reassembling my 2001 Vino, the front pulley makes a grinding noise. This especially happens when idling . The exhaust derestriction went "smoothly", however, I must've botched the 2nd mod. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.
BTW - this forum kicks butt!

Make sure you applied the required force on that NUT.

I'm thinking that something is not installed in the right order...
Are you sure it was installes back the same way you took it off?

have you taken off the cover and looked
at the variator? grinding sounds might mean the fan fins may have been broken or the spline is messed up causing the front half of the pulley to wobble.

Could it have something to do with the kickstart gears?

could be little midgets being chopped up in there...
That would be cool to see at least... LOL...
seriously open it up and look... if you hear grinding, then you should stop and verify the issue before using it any further...

i'll open it back up and check the variator. fans are good, so it might need a little tightening once i recheck the assembly. it's been parked since i noticed the racket. thanks for the responses. i really appreciate it.

So, I took the crankcase and belt assembly apart once again. In addition, I took the part of the clutch w/ the rollers in it off and put it back on again. I think the rollers were the noise culprit. Part of that clutch had pulled away when I took off the governor. I pushed it back, put a couple of the rollers must have gotten jammed up somehow. Anyhoo, it purrs now.
BTW- a good rule of thumb is, not to start the scooter until the crankcase cover is replaced or washers, nuts and fans will fly all over your driveway.
