Here are the official rules to the First Annual Provoscooter.com |Forums Scooter Photo Contest.

· The contest runs from November 1st until November 30th
· Submission deadline is November 30th @ 2359 hours.
· All pictures must be of your current scooter, and the photographer must be the owner of the scooter in the photo.
· Image size should not exceed 750 across 500 high for horizontal images, and no wider than 500 across 750 high for vertical shots.
· One entry per member.
· All images will be posted in to the: Perpetual Photo Contest Entry Thread
· Post picture only, no text in the post, nor should there be any text in the image.
· Pictures may be color, sepia, or BW.
· Please do not reply to entries in posts. There should absolutely no posts, replies in the image posting thread. I will delete any such entry without notice.
· Any comments or questions pertaining to an entry can be made via the PM System, or in the Perpetual Photo Contest Discussion Thread.
· Pictures will be voted on by the members from December 1st until December 31st.
· Official winner and runner ups will be announced on or about January 1st
· This is a for fun contest for bragging rights. So have fun.

I couldn't get the picture to post with it at 750x500... it was 104kb or so...

I had to size it at 633x475 which was 80kb...

So for those who are resizing the pic... I'd recommend 630x470 as the pic size...

Thats because I used a website to host my pic instead of just putting it directly onto the forum.
Suprisingly, the names Dylan, not Dave, lol. My dad's name is Dave, and everyone calls him SuperDave, so therefore...I'm Superdave Jr. So yeah...Dylan, I was named after Bob Dylan.

That makes sense, Dave because the post algorithm see the HTML markup-text as post text. But I have been able to post text pix in the past through the "Attachment Manager" that allowed me to post without text. The boards are configures so you must post I believe it was to eight words, or you'll get a "post to short error". I need to sit down one of these days and look at a panel setting, since it doesn't really affect anything major, I haven't made much of a priority of it.

I posted mine, but when I post the voting, thread on December 1st, I plan to leave my image off of the ballet. My picture was taken shortly after I bought my Vino in 03, and long before I refitter her with all the parts she has on now.

some photo stores have disposable digital cameras where you can take pics and then they will give you a cd or somehing.

You could also just take pics with normal film and then get a photoCD or scan it in if you have a friend with a scanner.

PS I just posted a pic of my Stella. I don't have a Vino.

You can scan an 35mm negitive, or better yet scan a print on a flatbed scanner as well. It does not have to be taken with a digicam or dSLR.

like I said...

Unfortunately this photo contest came at a horrible photo time for me...

We are under about a foot of snow... Heck, I washed the scooter in sub-32 degree temps to get the dirt off of it (from riding in the rain)!...

Then had to fight the snow to get it into a decent place to take a picture...

So, unfortunately you got a shot in the snow in my back yard... that's the best I could do for now...

I have a great place to take a photo... Here is a pic with my old car there... I love this picture! One of my favorites...

the only picture I have of the whole scooter... was turned into my avitar... however I didn't save it as a new file when I sized it to 80x80... which won't do much for this post... I'll see if I can get it somewhere to get a better pic of mine... but it probably won't be anything cool... just a staged pic...

I searched through my pics, and none of them will work. I thought I had one that I edited for my avitar, but can't find it. Maybe I'll be able to swing it before the end of the month.

Elliot, the rules state it must be a picture of your bike that you took, if you did not take that shot then pleawse remove it. The contest is running a month and there is no need for place holding images.

Excuse me your scooter? The one time I let you ride the scooter and by that I meant park, you crashed one scooter in to the other and had to fix both the Vino and the Bajaj. I'm trying still trying to get the town to pass an ordnance prohibiting you operating a motor vehicle.

I went to Staples today and they had disposable digital cameras for $9. Take your pics, take it to the store and they will give you a CD or a floppy probably that same day. Ritz camera stores also have disposable digital cameras.

And if you are technical, there are ways to pull the pics off of the disposable digital camera yourself.

Hi everyone!

I got a call from the bike shop this afternoon and my new tires and mirror or in. I have an appointment first thing tomorrow to get my tires and windshield mounted, so I'll bundle up and ride the 2 miles in low 30's temp to get that done... just in time to post a picture of my new baby in the beauty pageant! I don't expect to win... but everyone here has been so nice and helpful I really want to be a part of this!

Hiya Susan... yeah, isn't the end of riding season sad? :( But mother nature always sends uf a day or 2 in the heart of winter that we can ride in. We had one gorgeous day last february when it got sunny and up to 78 degrees. I was lucky enough to be off that day and spent the whole afternoon just riding around on my Honda in jeans and a halter top. I felt like I'd died and gone to heaven! Then a cold front came thru that night and it snowed the next day!

BTW, I don't know if you caught my reply to you in my moped plate thread, but I adore your seat cover... that's next on my purchase list! :)

I plan to officially open the voting poll, and lock the contest entry thread on December 1st around 0800 EST, that way it will leave a little bit of a window for last minute folks on the west coast, Hawaii, and point further west to post. Looks like you uploaded it to your Scooter Garage. You could also have uploaded the image directly through the attachment manager.

Originally I DID use the attachment manager, but it didn't work. Next I tried uploading the file to my Scooter Garage and pasting the properties URL into the IMG manager. That didn't work either. Then I remembered reading in a post here somewhere that I needed to add one text character. I checked and sure enough all of the pics that were uploaded via attachment manager had a single period on top of the picture. I tried that and...voila... success! :)

Erich has the file manager configured that max file size as 200kb, with images no larger than 640x480. the vBGarage is a plugin so there for excluded from general admin set permissions, though there is a max of 10 pictures at this time and a preset max storage space per user.

Susan's seat cover really sets her scoot off, but I love the Keys and Lennox's Zummin Zuma leaning on the southern most point is really cool, KV is my hometown hero here in Maryland and if I flatter him enough maybe after I get my scoot staged and have problems he will come work on it, Jered is in the snow belt up there and gotta love that someone in Alaska would even consider riding a scooter and dumping loads of loot into it with such a short riding season, Elliott's blue bandit looks really cool and so on and so on and so on... Decisions, decisions, decisions....

I noticed King's photo is not on the list. I really like that pastoral look with the moo cows. Are you withdrawing King, or was it an oversight?

I've come up with a couple of titles for some of these pix to help me remember whose is whose

Some very nice shots here. I like the aesthetics of Jered's "Zuma in Winter", I like Chreaus's kind of "Root of the Scoot"- vision of a naked Vino, I like MrKlaw's "Two Classics" a Stella posing in front of a very classic looking building. Like Tokumei's "Blue Dragon" nice contrast of a very tame looking scoot with a firey tail. And then there's Lennox's "True Southern Comfort" shot which is very creative.
I'll need to sleep on these a while.

guess you have never seen a stock zuma... mine has not only engine and performance upgrades but the whole rear end has been shaved off, blinkers removed and relocated...

So... Stock... me no think so Jo-----ey...

oh well though...

OK I'm sorry blinkers moved and common motor upgrades don't cut it for me LOL I'm not putting down anyone's rides but i shaved my Zuma rear and moved my blinkers day one, it's so common that i don't even notice it anymore. in fact if i see a bike WITH blinkers it looks strange to me =0) i was just pointing out the fact there wasn't much creativity in the photo contest it's hard to judge one normal bike over the next. I can't place a vote since none of the bikes look any different then the thousands of others I've seen just like them. It's like trying to judge a car show when everyone shows up with new Honda accords and a couple have different bumper stickers then the other.

The photo contest threads have been pinned to the top of the Lifestyle forum, and an announcement was placed on top of the Scootering Forum for six weeks now. Even if you hit new posts and did not bother to go in to the individual forums, you would have still seen this thread. So therefore I do not see what your issue is here. There has been MORE than a fare share amounts of pinned topics and announcements on the contest for well over a month now.

I actually considered asking Jered and Lennox not to run in the polls, but thought that wouldn't be right. As admin I can actually add my name in mid-poll and add 400000 votes, LOL, but that would defeat the entire purpose of the contest :) Problem is this time of the year after Turkey Day is when the board slows down considerably. I expect in March this board will be so busy, the entire mod team will be cursing, so I may do the next contest in the summer! :p
