I really love Vespa.I think Vespas are very cool. In San Francisco (I live near there) scooters are very popular and it seems like about half of them are Vespas. They're just beautiful. But I don't know if I like the new model better than the older one.The old Vespa is still being made in India as a Bajaj, and those are imported here and I see them occasionally.

The Bajaj Chetak is the P series Vespa built under licence in India. Kind of like the Royal Enfield Bullet. I'm not positive on this, but I believe the Stella is a Chetak imported and sold here by Genuine Scooter Co..
The Chetak (like the Stella) are not regarded as equals to the P Series (because of their non-Italian origins) but are accepted in classic circles, and do hold their value.

I like Vespa's, they have a cool art deco look (the older ones). My next scoot will be a 250ie Vespa, they're more modern looking but still have a classic look.

The Vespa Ape was made by Vespa back in the 50's. Recently on the History channel show "Pickers" (A show about two guys that hunt for "barn finds" and search junk yards)
A guy had one, didn't want to part with it....super rare!

I love the show pickers! They got a Lambretta frame one time. The "ape" is pretty cool im wondering how reliable and what kind of power they put out.

Vespa scooters are really best..There are many other scooters like suzuki Burgmans,Piaggio BV500 and Yamaha's scooters but in my opinion Vespa are at top..Vespas are easy to ride ,maintain...Comparatively low cost, and more fuel efficient..Seriously thinking about getting Vespa since rising prices of fuel every day....

No offense, but I find nothing in what you just said as implying that Vespas are best. You just described all scooters. "are easy to ride ,maintain...Comparatively low cost, and more fuel efficient.."

Vespas are not "best", I cannot think of a single scooter that I would consider "best". It's what's best for you that counts. Mechanically I do not believe Vespas are any better than most Japanese or Taiwanese scooters. But they are different. I consider them the "Harleys" of the scooter world. They have a name, a heritage, and a type of construction that none of those other scooters have. I would certainly buy one over any new current model Japanese scooter, as in my opinion, the new Japanese scooters are seriously overpriced for what you get. They cost about the same as a Vespa (Honda's SHi150 comes to mind), but don't come with the panache or status value of a Vespa, if that means anything to you. If it does, buy a Vespa. If it doesn't, you are, again in my opinion, much better off with a Taiwanese scooter, such as Kymco and Genuine. They have Japanese quality for a lot less money. Jerry.
