On my 2003 Zuma it seems under the headlight housing thing, there is supposed to be a bolt. I can just pop off the cover to the headlights right now. My question is what is the size and thread pitch of the bolt/screw that goes in there so I can get a replacement.
Also, just a general question. When I start off from a stop, my zuma seems to go real slow for a second and then kicks in the power. It is completely stock. Is this normal or is something wrong as I don't weight very much at all?
I couldn't figure out which forum to put this in so i'm sorry if I put it in the wrong one.

As far as the jerky acceleration, if you have alot of miles on it your rollers could be flatspotted and just a simple replacement of them can help.

oops, didn't address that issue...
it's normal...per say.... to lag off the start... it's the way the CVT works... engine rev's, tranny starts moving, then engine gets into power band and takes off...
If it's real bad, then you can replace tranny parts, IE: rollers, springs, etc.

Jered, you nailed it. I'll go to a yamaha dealership and order it this week.
Speedy, my zuma actually only has 193 miles on it. Could it be something like bad oil or gas that would cause that?
Oh, we responded at the same time jered. I just wasn't sure if it was normal or not as I've never owned a scooter or anything. It's not really that bad. I guess thats just how they work, thanks for the help.

22 BOLT
1 $0.94
this is what it should cost from your dealer...don't let them sell it to you much more (give or take a little with market and such as this is an internet price)...
they should also be able to get it for no shipping costs, IF you get it with their stock order... or you should be able to get it quicker with a UPS delivery to them or something but will cost you a few bucks...Online is $11.00 shipping for just this part!

I have been going to the same dealer for ever and have never been charged shipping. As far as internet pricing goes no more then a dollar max (o.k.- that must be shipping!). The pay off with my dealer is if its the wrong part or messed up I can solve it that day. Their parts department is great but I would never buy a bike or scoot of them, bad rep.

that little lag you are talking about is completely normal. same thing happens to mine. my scoot is also brand new with 320 miles on it.
