Back in late April of this year, I bought a 2005 Kymco People 250 from Best Value Motor Sports in Columbus, Georgia in order to commute to and from work. The scooter had about 106 miles on it, but after the sale I noticed the invoice stated it as "new." There were a few tiny cosmetic blemishes on it and it had no instruction/service manual, but I bought it anyway.
After riding the scooter for about a month, I noticed that it would get a little sluggish on the streets and begin to overheat. Also, the power cut out on two occasions while riding it. To top things off the gas cap started to acting up by becoming difficult to open and one day it suddenly became stuck. I literally had to pry it open to fill the tank. On that same day after filling the tank I took to the local dealer's service department and was told to give it about a week or so before they had it fixed.
A week goes by and I hear nothing. After two weeks I call them to check on the status and they tell me that they were going to have to replace the ignition switch which caused the gas cap to get stuck. (No mention of any electrical problems though). I was a bit concerned that it took them two weeks to figure this out, but I let it go. The third week rolls by and I hear nothing from them so I call the service dept to inquire on the scooter's status. The guy on the phone hasn't got a clue as to the status and says he'll have to call me back. Well....He doesn't. The next day I call again and they now tell me that they have to replace a cable that was damaged somehow and are waiting for the part from Kymco. When I complain about it taking 3 weeks, I'm told that they can't do anything about Kymco's delay in shipping the part.
As of today, another week has gone by. I called them to check on the status and I'm told that they were waiting on a part. When I ask "are you still waiting on that cable?", the guy replies, I'll have to check and have the manager call you back. Not surprisingly, no one calls back. So now a whole month has gone by and I'm still scooter-less. Frustrating as it is, I have no choice but to wait until they recieve the part and install it. Who knows how long that'll take, but the next scooter purchase I make will definitely not be from this dealer. _o
Okay, rant mode off. --o
