Ok...second variator install question.
the athena comes with green v-slides.
Am I correct in assuming that you 'insert' them into the back plate ramp 'slots'? When I do this, they fit on the ramp VERY tight, and the back plates does not move up and down...is it supposed to?
it gets sort of 'wedged on' the variator front...
any tips would be great...

maybe you have them on backwards?
if they are still VERY tight, sand the inside of them till it slides smoothly ;)

They are upside down.

same thing happened to me, i had to modify those sliding v bushings a bit to make them work better. a fine grade file, or sanding will do the trick. not sure why those bushings are so tight from factory though..

they are green bushings that are IDENTICAL on each side...I'll get out some sandpaper and take a little off the inside so they can slide...

My old stock Derbi vario, my stock Piaggio vario, and my Polini Evo vario all have to have the slides on one way only..drove me nuts for a few minutes till I flipped them. they do look identical. If you have to modify them..they are the wrong part. the plate should slide freely. What do you think speedy?

I would try flipping them first. I know that the Polini do look identical but they actually arent. Its easier to be able to just flip them than have to sand them all down.
