Hey guys- am looking for an opinion. Currently have an 05 vino classic and like it a lot but am looking for more power. Don't know whether to start modding or go with the 125. Looks like I could go up to stage 2 and end up thinking I should have bought the bigger scoot anyhow. Any thoughts?

Go stage2. 2stroke power is always better than a 4stroke 125.

2 stoke will give you a different kind of power than the 125. Even a 125 modded will not feel the same at take off as a modded 50 2-stroke.

I now have a Vino 125 but had a 70cc BW's before (aka Zuma) and i would definitly not go back to the two stroke even though the "kick" was incredible. They're too noisy, output smoke all the time unless they're really hot, have to service them all the time, tune this and tune that, change the main jet, wash the p-flow, etc.. ffffff! The v125 is also way more robust and comfortable. Stage 2 two strokes are veeeery thirsty btw.

I guess its all a matter of your age. lol. As one of the younger guys on here I love the roar and seeing how fast I can go but to some of the older, and more sensible people, taking a nice slow lesurly (sp?) ride is fun.

In a perfect world we could have both......

Thanks for the input. My wife thinks I should get the bigger scoot instead of continually tinkering with the 2stroke. Still haven't decided but now I have some opinions on both sides.

I was already old when i had a two stroke... Now with a new variator my V125 is quicker than the stage 2 two stroke, less noisy, less thirsty, etc.. but i'm still old :-|

I Wonder how much you have to spend in preformance parts to get two front wheels off the ground. :naught:

Ahahaha! Yeah, probably have to reach stage 5!

Personally I think it is an intriguing concept. The quality of Piaggio with the same 250cc fore stroke EFI motor as in the Vespa GTS. All wrapped in a very unique frame that offeres lockable storage for TWO full face helmets and then some, the ability to pull up to a light and not 'have' to put your foot down, and a sure fire WOW factor wherever you go. And, not only able to keep up with but stay out in front of any traffic on any road with any speed limit up too and maybe even including freeways without having to mod the snot and reliability out of a 50cc.
The price may end up a bit steep for most "scooter enthusiasts" but there are gobs of people willing to spend ten thousand plus for a crotch rocket that is uncomfortable for extended rides, you would have a hard time storing an extra set of keys on and will likely get you very costly speeding tickets if you ever actually 'use' the bike as intended.
I would love to try one of these threesoms. Imagine a Tri-plane Honda Silverwing....with reverse. :smokin:

As they say, there's no replacement for displacement.

True enough! Am thinking it won't be long until there are more performance parts for the 125 so I'm leaning that way.

I'm sure preformance parts for the 125 are on the way. With the death of 2 strokes (in this country) I think more people will go through the hastle of getting a motorcycle endorsment for the 125 than waste their time with a 4 stroke 50.

I have a 125, no way could I make it on the hills with a 50. I also have a Majesty 400 cc for road trips which, of course, is very powerful. But the 125 is nice for around town and commuting.

Getting to be a hassle in Texas to get a motorcycle endorsement. First, I was told I couldn't take the test on any scooter and would have to find a bike somewhere. Then when I borrowed a bike I was told they were so busy that my best bet was to take the motorcycle safety course and obtain a waiver for the riding portion. I am on a waiting list now.

I started with the stock Zuma, fun but not traffic worthy, when you figure all the extra money to modify, and mechanical problems soon after, just buy the bigger scooter out of the gate. One month after purchase I traded the Zuma in for the 125 and it's been absolutely great. A 400cc Majesty would be even better, but a whole lot more dough! A Honda or Yamaha 250 scoot for about the price of a Rebel would solve all my problems. Any info on a great 250cc scooter for $3000-$3500 list?
