You can thank all those SUV owners out there for pumping up that demand. Glad I have a scooter and two Nissan's! (Note to Elise: Good choice Hon, you did well to steer me away from buying that Jeep last year!)

hey... so my durango gets 11 or less MPG! I FREAKING HATE IT! $45.00 or more to fill and the same miles per tank as my 30mpg focus!
Oh well... the cost of keeping a happy wife! :D
King Vino

I'd thought a Derango would do a little better than that! I was looking at that new Mustang, but Elise said she leave me and take the cat if I got it, LOL.

unfortunately the town of Anchorage is nothing but that, A TOWN... we live on the edge of town so all of our driving is "CITY driving" so.... we get the crap end of the MPG on the durango... the few times we have gone on the highway we get about 16mpg... but that's about never!
besides it has a 5.7L magnum in it... a 98 model...

Prices for gas in the states is cheap. When I was in Scotland back in 2000, it came out to $7.85 a gallon US in Glasgow, and higher outside the cities. Iceland was no better in 01, and my friends in Japan are saying it's between $4.50-$5.00 depending on where they are at the time.

Okay what 3rd world country do you live in????
The last time I remember getting gas for $.99 was when I was 16 (9 years ago) only because a CONOCO station sold all 3 grades for that price 1 time every 2 weeks....
Other than that... I have never bought gas for $.99....
So the point is your 15 years old, I remember 9 years ago getting it for $.99... so at 6 you were looking at gas prices?

I remember when gas was cheaper than that, but then again I remember when gas was leaded. I had a kid on my Mustang board ask, "Why the hell do we call gas unleaded? As opposed to what since the only kind of gas you can get at gas station diesel!"
XPS1210

I wish I could find gas for "10 bits" as zuma88 said he bought the other day!
"10 bits" means $1.25 for those who don't know!
I also remember leaded gas... I also know that when a car has the cat-verter removed... Bring on the lead substitute... But then again CSI the other day said that lead gas causes lead poisioning in chocholate... So maybe we shouldn't do that! HAHAHAHAH!
I doubt many of you can say you've seen this one though... There was a gas station in BattleGround Washington (where I lived when I was a kid) that sold gas for a whole penny... so if it was $1.00 a gallon you got 10 gallons for $10.00.... Unlike every single other gas station that takes an extra penny every nine gallons... Because 99.999999999% of stations sell gas for $1.009 a gallon... Don't know why, and it doesn't make any since.... hell it's an extra penny every nine gallons... but I guess it adds up after 20 years?

I've always heard that the fraction of a penny was due to fuel taxes.
I just filled up my car for 2.29 87 octane yesterday, in San Diego. People won't stop *****ing about how expensive its getting here... but it only cost me an extra $4 or so to top my tank off.

I'm dating myself, but I remember gas costing 20-30 cents a gallon. But then there was always a gas war going on that brought the price down even more. In Renton Wa. one cut rate station had FREE gas, you pay the tax. That made the price 9c! You couldn't get $2.00 in the tank.
But then I was working at Boeing for $1.51 an hour.

Think of the Bright side- Every thinks they are getting smart and buying mopeds, all kinds, all companies. They really dont care about mopeds , just gas prices.. THe minute gas prices get reasonable again, (because I think they are being manipulated, like Enron), the moped owners will sell their scoots cheap and WE- the scooter lovers that we are, will be right there to buy them for a fraction of the cost..Just watch my friends. The RC-51 knoweth of what he speaks............................................ .......... :)
