Quick question, if I do order the complete stage 1 sold by Provo, do I need anything else to purchase? (The ad says is everything I need to make it stage 1) I want to make one purchase order, and not get a surprise later because I am missing other parts. Another option in the Provo website is kevlar for an additional charge, do I need that too? Or can I use my stock one. I will appreciate all your help. Thanks.

The Stage 1 kit is complete as far as a simple kit that allows for easy install of these parts...

You get the pipe... When changing the pipe, you need to change the roller weights... Even better to replace the variator with a performance one (included in the kit with multiple roller combo's)... The clutch springs can be changed or left alone depending on how your scooter rides with the new parts...

It's simple to install and makes a nice add on to a scooter...

The kevlar belt is optional due to the fact that with stage 1 it's not required... What the kevlar belt does is give you a stronger belt that is supposed to last 2 to 3 times longer than the stock belt!

Yup, stage 1 is a complete package. Everything you need in one box. It's a breeze to install too!

stage one is complete, and yes, i'd say you definitely want the kevlar belt, i drove with stage one on my bike for a week with my stock belt and it shredded to pieces, so please get the kevlar belt, it's well worth not being stranded on the side of the highway like i was...

also, you're gonna need some tools you probably don't already have in the junk drawer, mainly a strap wrench (i bought a set of three at sears for ten bucks) and a vice (i got a little bench vice at sears for something like 30 bucks). read all the installation instructions on this site and you'll see what i mean.

i'd also highly recommend getting new tires, especially if you carry a lot of weight or ever carry another passenger, cause if so your new pipe will scrape against the ground on sharp turns and speed bumps, bigger tires will lift you higher and avoid that problem...

The kevlar belt is a hit or miss type of thing, some people swear by it others have had very bad experiences with it. I've been riding my stage 1 vino with the stock belt for 500miles without any slip ups, and with about 1,300miles total on the belt.

As for the tires, devonrs is right. You gotta get em, or else you'll be scraping your posh crome pipe on those tight turns. Maybe it's just cuz I turn agressivley, but I've had my fair share of scrapes. If you don't wanna bother with new tires yet (stock tires still got plenty of life), you can get a bigger shock, which will also raise your scoot a bit.
