Hi, I've been riding a Vino for about 8 months now, by neccessity since my husband had to start driving our car to work due to the distance. I've been a bit lax about learning the proper care/maintenance stuff and I need help!! (My guy's a bit lax in that department too!)

I just moved to the beach and the salt air has been eating away at my poor little scooter! The mirrors and handles are all rusting and I'm not sure what to use to remove it and prevent it, I don't want to ruin paint or any of the rubber covering over wires, etc. (forgive me for not knowing the names of the parts I'm talking about!) Any suggestions on products? Also, should I be worried about any other parts rusting and causing performance problems??

I'd appreciate any advice (and "advice for dummies" is greatly appreciated!!). Glad to see others love their Vinos too!

Stef...Lennox one of our Mods on Here, swears on silicone...I can relate.I was grinding and treating..to no avail. gonna replace every fastener with stainless. A friend from Seattle says this stuff works real well near Salt water..Works different from navel jelly..I finally found it at a "Mom and Pop" hardware store near me,and it was only $10 bucks for this size..it's a permanent primer...I'll see how it works..

I don't know if they sell it in the states, but over here (on an island in the) we use Muc-Off. After washing with it, they have a Bike Spray which repels the water still on the bike and coats the bike for protection. The *only* thing you don't use it on is the brakes!

Hi Stephanie, I would try using Turtle wax. If it's only slight surface
rust, it should rub it right off, and leave a protective coating.

You might want to check for a rust spot I found on my forks. It was
inside the box section, at the bottom of the steering column (just
above the wheel). Spray a good dose of Rust-Olium in there, or the
primer Derbi mentioned. Removing two screws on the back side, bottom
of the fender, should give you enough access.

That one I would have used this on
