I was getting ready to ride yesterday when I noticed that my rear tire is totally flat - it must have a slow leak in it. I was at an intersection a couple of days ago and the rear tire made a loud popping noise - it sounded like I ran over a rock just right to make the tire shoot the rock several feet away, know what I mean?

Anyway, my tire is flat now and I'm thinking about replacing both tires with better tires. Offhand, I don't know who made the tires I'm running on now, but I do know the size: 3.50-10 51J (for both front and rear)

Anyone know if the stock tires on my 125 are a quality pair, or should I take this crisitunity to replace both with a set of better performing tires?

I'll take any recommendations or reviews or advice you have!

Yamaha's stock tires are crap right off the back. Depending on your riding style, if you like classic styles go with the Sava, if you like racing tires go with the Michelin's.

Kings right, but it's not so much the brand but the tread pattern that sets the two apart. Cuz you can buy savas with that aggressive sporty tread. As for rubber quality, both are far superior to that of the stock rubber.

So basically, buy any tire because they're all good and the stock ones both suck and blow. got it.

Now I just have to learn how to change a scooter tire without losing parts or breaking stuff.

The popped stock tire wouldn't be covered under warranty, would it? I'd guess no... but when has it ever hurt to ask?

scooter tires are a breez, you do not even need tools......... oops, that is inacurate, you need a socket to remove the exhaust.

Really, I'm goin to be changing to sava white walls soon. How exactly do you change them? Is there a trick, I needa know?

they are a hair harder to change than pedal bike tires... 2 stiff screw drivers and it should be easy to do...

I personally have tire irons... Basially 2 flat metal pieces with slight curves on one end to allow for even easier tire changing...

It's not the tires I'm worried about. It's taking off the disc brakes and all that stuff. :)

Does Sava make tires for the Vino Classic? I'm wanting to change out the stock tires but I am scared I will break something or screw something up. Jered mentioned in another thread how it can be done, but I'm just a bit nervous at my skill level. :) I called up the service dept at the place I bought the scooter at and the guy wants to charge $68 to change out the tires. Should I just do that or should I try to change it myself and save the money? Eeek!!!

Half the Vino owners on here have them on, including myself. We have about ten threads on the subject if you run a search for them.

Just go to ( I WONT post links, or be banned.COM) they supply the same tire sizes. They have all weather tires, performance, and cruising tires

I HIGHLY RECOMMEND putting in a flat-stop goop in your tyres...I've used Yamaha's and also Ride-on tire protection system ...you may find it helpful to read ride-on's testimonials..

P.S. You can change your Tyres yourself...it is quite easy...the only really necessary thing is a couple of tyre irons (or large screwdrivers).

Just like changing a bike tyre, but without the tube...

Well then, one would hope that you have solved your tyre problems in the interim...

I would go with the Michelin S1's, I have them on my Vino and they are great.

Haha yup!

I agree - they work fantastic. 100X better than the stock Chen Shin's. I am much, much more confident in the road grip/traction now that I have S1's!

Installed tubeless Sava 100/80/10 on my Vino 125.....they fit well. Provo sells them in a kit only but I am sure he can sell them in pairs without the rims if you were to ask. I really like the ride and the styling is sweet. Good way to support Provo so we can get more 125 parts stocked in.

Here's a nice document "gently lifted" from the files section of the Vino 125 Yahoo group listing all the tires that will fit on the 125
