OK, I'm having a hard time finding BR9HS plugs in town. I know I can order them, but I want to hook up with a place where I can purchase them locally. When I received the T-6, it came with a BR9HS and today a place in town told me to try a BPR7HS. The plug is a little longer, and I checked the clearance with the piston and it doesn't hit it. Has anyone used this plug, and if you did have you had any problem. It does have a hotter range, and I could use that. If you use something else, please include it in you post.
Thanks thanks thanks!

the longer plug is simply to get it further into the chamber for "supposed" better burning...
you can use either plugs according to NKG

A 7 is too hot. You might burn a hole in a piston. I wouldn't use the extended tip in any case. Most auto supply places handle through NGK9. Almost nobody has 10. Marine supply places have 9's.

Well I guess we are around 50/50 now. Both of which are from experienced scooter heads. Any tie breakers?

They sent you a 9 with the cylinder. Seems like that ought to tell you something.

It's definitly that kind of logic I follow. However, with the br9hs going away, what are we t6 driver going to do? Champion has a cross reference and they won't work because it uses a fat tip.

I failed to mention that the guy that sold it to me used it in his Zuma because he didn't stock the 9's. He didn't own his very long, but he has a T-6 and he used them. I'm concerned about long term use. I guess I'll dig out the 9 from the trash and use it. I believe my multimeter has a temperature probe, and maybe I'll ride it a day with each and see the temp difference.

I long ago switched to a Wave Runner plug cap. Your dealer has them for $6. They use the ball end, so you don't have to take it off the plug. You do have to adapt the air seal on the AC engine, though I finally trashed mine and didn't worry about it. Since when is the NGK9 going away? I can get them anyplace in town. The only purpose of a colder plug is to prevent preignition from the hot tip. The colder the plug, the shorter the insulator so the tip cools better. Engine operating temps should not be affected.

Hmmm. First, the br9hs is one of the most common ngk plugs around. And they are sitting on the shelf around here. Since I never recieved another plug with my T6, or stage 2 kit, I still run the stock plug. In fact, its the original. No problems, no dimpling in the piston top. Maybe this is why I can run a large main, and have no problems of ring sticking? Not sure why, but it runs well with this plug. Is there a recommended plug for use with the t6? If so, its news to me.

I've checked Checker, NAPA, Autozone, Holiday cycle, and Yamaha dealer in town. No luck. The Yamaha dealer looked at me like I was crazy. They asked "what's it for?" They said that they didn't have 9's, but the could probably get them. Since I was the only person in the area that used them, I'd have to buy a box. Yamaha wants 6.95 per plug, so they wanted to sell me 69.50 box of plugs, when that would last me a lifetime. I can afford 69.50 but there is a matter of principle here. To the best of my knowledge, I'm the only Zuma rider in town and I guess following that logic, there should be 9 others.

A fair price is about $2 per plug.

Also make sure you reference part # 5422 for the NGK br9HS. The auto parts store only knows how to reference that number. Advanced Auto has them for $1.69 each.

Now we're talking!!!! Thanks for the great information! I shall refrain from the Zuma tomorrow. I guess I'll be riding my XR 650. I'd rather be scootin'.

a 7 plug for a ported 49cc motor will be fine, esp if its just the stock motor. You can try and 8 and if it fouls, stay with the 7. Its only a 2$ test.

when i bought my zuma used from a dealership, it came with the bpr7hs plug, i at first couldnt find a replacement, so i bought a br7hs and ended up tossing it in the garbage. the difference in the two is that the bpr has an extended tip that gets farther down into the head, when running the br7, the bike ran like sh*t and i gapped it three times.
i dont have a 70 cc kit on my zuma so i found a place that had bpr7hs plugs for a dollar ninety eight. im sure with a different head and piston you may run accross not being able to use this plug, but it sure made a difference on my zuma.
