I think the coil in my bug eye may be bad. What are the sighns? (Choke not work?) And yes my battery is new.

Ignition coils can fail completely (no spark), or give goofy symptoms. Most of the time, they will work until warm, then begin to show signs of weakness. RPM's may get limited, poor acceleration, lazy performance. But coils are fairly reliable. Its usually the wire, which gets a hole burnt through it, and it shorts, or the plug cap fails. Don't forget the most under-rated part on the scooter. The SPARK PLUG. It has nothing to do with the choke, or any other system on the scooter besides ignition.

I just got my stage 2 on and it will will not crank unless I cover the carb with my hand.
someone suggested it may be the choke. But the choke is brand new. Since the choke does not do its thing until the coil says so, im thinking it may be the coil. Plus my headlights are real low and do not cut on when the ignition switch is on with the bike not started. Tail light comes on. Any Ideas anyone?

It's easy to get the choke in wrong. Take it out, and try again. Nothing wrong with your coil. Haven't heard of one failing, yet. Plug caps crack. Easy to replace, and cheap. The coil has nothing to do with your choke, and your headlights don't work until the engine is running.

The arriche male and stock female auto choke pluggs link prefectly, but the How Toos say they need to be clipped. Do they need to be clipped?

Back when I had a 19mm Arreche, the plugs didn't match. You had to cut and splice. Maybe they've changed it, but I haven't heard that. With the Arreche you must be sure to get the choke inserted properly. If the piston doesn't slide into it's hole just so, things can get jammed. As a general comment, the manual choke is much better. All the choke does on these things is get the engine started. Closes pretty fast. The manual is more reliable, works better in cold weather, and doesn't cause any problems.

I had to splice also. If it starts, and you must choke it by hand to do so, its a fuel problem, not ignition related. You can try and put the old choke from the stock carb back in and try it. They are close, but not the same. Otherwise manual is the way to go.

Is there a fuel pump or is it gravity fed?

There is a fuel diaphram that only lets gas go through it when there is a vacumm created by the motor runing. But otherwise it is fully gravity fed.
